Which hot hatch has the best tuning potential?

I see, like you were doing 8 months ago?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18107142

Or a year ago when you wanted a Clio 200?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18102843

Or 2 years ago when you were going to buy a used Cooper S?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17919504

Or 2.5 years ago when you were offered a new car?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17908296

Or here even longer ago with your old account when you were looking to buy a Golf GTI turbo?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17884224

Or a few months previously when you wanted a 325i or a Hyundai Coupe?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17873856

etc etc.

Thats just a quick 3 minutes of 'show posts started by this user', and I cant be bothered go back any further.

The point is you constantly ask these purchase related questions yet never purchase anything at all.

It's amusing :)

I've put forward my case above. Looking back I'm glad I didn't buy any of those cars, running costs alone would have been too much of a risk whilst at Uni.

You still seem unable to comprehend that people go through phases of considering certain cars. There are many reasons why the purchase may not take place. Again, I am by no means the only person guilty of this and you know it!
Looking back I was fairly immature and indeed living in a fantasy land so I understand why you're fed up with me :D

I will be making a purchase soon though, bookmark this and quote it if by this time next year I have not!

You even signed up for a new account with a totally new name because nobody here took you seriously Tommy, oh sorry I mean Scott.

Every time I make a decent point you bring this low blow up.

You know fully well I lost access to the old account. If you want to take the **** then you can take it out of the fact that instead of making this clear I attempted to reinvent myself and failed :D

Load of rubbish, why come back as Scott if you simply lost access to the tommy account, either your name is tommy or its Scott.

It was a deliberate attempt to pretend you were a different person which is why you denied it for months.

It's neither, I've always had a thing about using my real name on forums.

Either way who cares, do you want me to put in my sig 'previously known as tommy'

Maybe it's Tommy Scott :D:p

Lots of people don't use their real name on forums.

Most don't choose a real sounding name though?

In answer to the original question the VAG 2L TFSI with the ko4 turbo has the most tunning potential on a stock turbo and engine. Up from 240-260bhp depending what car it is in to 380bhp with a few bolt on mods. I can't think of another engine that can get 50% power increase with a stock engine and turbo. With uprated rods and a bigger turbo they are starting to hit 500bhp in track cars.

Not always.

I bought my car with the intention of always modding it (induction and remap), I'll be doing the same with my next car.

I couldn't afford to buy, run and insure something as quick as a Golf GTi (for rough example) but my car, plus the £380 worth of work is now pretty much there.

Come time to sell I'll leave it on there but if it puts people off I'll just throw the standard airbox and map back on for no cost and have a standard car.

true dat. Have a look at Seat FR's, K1's & Cupras. Significantly less expensive than the VW equivalent.

Definitely the VAG units, remaps alone have a high bang for buck but meh, diesels also have a very high tuning potential in that respect so get a diesel if all you're intrested is pub chat.
