***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

Did that one last night, the prize money and prize cars just don't fit with the time you have to put in!

Took about 2hours 20 minutes ish using a decent race car. Think I used the Zonda R and just one driver. It pretty much does everything for you, even goes into the pit when he really needs to. So I just kept and eye on it every 45 minutes or so. Currently doing the 4 hour MX-5 one at the moment. Slightly harder due to the limited car, but with a rear wing and 200+ BHP he is just flying round.

Same. Except I'm doing A-Spec

I've never sold a car to date . Keeping them all as the 1000 cars trophy is going to be a pain to achieve. Nearly at 190 now, only 810 to go :o

Pretty sure you can just buy 1000 karts (less the number of cars you have ofc) to get that one.

GT is quiet online because you dont get XP or credits for racing online. everyone is playing GT LIFE to max out there cars and garage and then when bored of that will probably hit the online bit.

until PD give credits and xp for online its going to be pretty lacklustre for a while.

How can it be dead/quiet if people are able to join and take part in sessions.......

So if 60 people are playing, 20 rooms with 3 people in each room you think that is busy? for a game this big it should be bursting at the seems online, can only imagine the lack of any sort of features online is making it not very appealing. Why do you think the online is not full of people playing compared to the likes of Forza, F1 etc?

As said I think the problem is a lack of reward for playing online, not even a leaderboard for your best laps, can only hope they are going to add a lot because the single player is pretty poor :(

lol How many people do you want to race/play with at any given time?

All I know is that its busy enough to play with those on my buddy list and to play with randomers. That what my experience has been like.

By the way I like the if!

More than 4 or 5 please which seems the norm for random rooms online. Was not really a if, I counted 64 people online in rooms today at 4pm  I don't know how you can consider that busy in the slightest. Racing with 5 people on average, 2 of which quit at the first corner when they ram each other is not really busy in my book.

I expect in the fact you'd have to do 1000000% less grinding! ;) :D

Haven't had to grind much yet. Got stuck at 23 in A-Spec and B-Spec so repeated one race 5 times in B-Spec, that got me to 24, opened up the final AMG challenge which got me to 24.5.

B-Spec guy is now 2/3 the way through the first endurance race. May have to repeat it to get to 26 or I can go back and do the NASCAR crap with him for some extra wonga :D. Plus there's still a lot to do in A-Spec so no grinding needed right now :)

Then perhaps you need to up your buddy count.....

Online mode isnt the greatest at the moment. From personal experiences I have setup (and taken part) in a number of online session. Both with buddies and random folk lol.

And I'm about to check and see if anything is kicking off now

I'm really struggling to get into this at the moment :s
I've been completely addicted to every Gran Turismo game until now, always loved console *sims* - also playing tonnes of Forza 2/3.

But GT5 just seems so bland, graphics seem really flat, car engines just sound bland, it's got me thinking my PS3 isn't working properly or something! But its fine on everything else.
Even driving using my G25 wheel I'm struggling to get any satisfaction out of it. So far the only thing I've really enjoyed is a few laps of a dirt track in an Evo.

Have I just become a grumpy git on turning 23 and getting this or am I missing something. I really had huge hopes for this and so far all I've done is wished my 360 was working properly so I could play some Forza3 and drive around Nord.

set the ps3 display as expanded? or limited? to get more contrast?
set to small theater audio settings in gt5 for good sound, hopefully wired to a good audio setup.

and yeah, no tyre grip feel on my g25 which should be superior to the xbox wheel but without proper feedback
feels more a toy than the xbox wheel lol.

personally i think it blows forza3 away in graphics and audio, but not in gameplay. the game is'nt finished yet and needs more patches i think.

Which does not change the fact it is very quiet online

Anyone used the Mazda Furai Concept’08 you get when you win the NR-A Roadster Cup in Bspec? I was just looking for a japanese car for the Japanese championship and thought about using this. Its awesome with just an oil change and decent tyres it owns pretty much all the cars and isnt to much of a handfull think its something like 500HP at 675Kg.

The DFGT seems better suited than the g25 you can feel every little bump or slip of the tires. It's one truly awesome wheel for the money.
