Which does not change the fact it is very quiet online

Right, I spotted 100 rooms last night (that did not include the number of full rooms). Think I'm lying? Feel free to ask for a screenshot.

Not got time bull mate!

OMG you really just don't grasp it do you....the number of rooms does not mean it is busy online.....even if those 100 rooms were full (which they are not) then it would still be a very low number online compared to other games in this genre. You think 1000 players (over estimate) is a busy online community? PGR4 probably still has more numbers than that on lol

Do you have shares in polyphony or something?

Im simply stating what I had witnessed. What would be the point in lying?

I spotted 100 rooms each with varying numbers of participants. I was spoilt for choice. How is that not busy enough?

And no... I do not have shares in polyphony.... What does this have to do with the discussion? lol

What I think you're missing though is that compared to the number of people who bought the game, it's really not busy online at all. I don't know how many copies have been sold worldwide, but I'm guessing at several million. Even if it's just 1 million copies sold, with only 1000 players online, that's 0.1% of the players actually taking it online.

Doesn't sound very busy to me really.

And the point I'm trying to make is that there are a number of available sessions (with participants) to take part in. Im being told that it isnt busy.... How can this be so If youre able to take part in sessions on a regular basis?

Now Id understand if the online experienced was similar to that offered by UFC2010 Undisputed. A large number of people have given up playing that online. It can take tens of mins to find a session.

I can find a game on PGR4 and Pro Evo 2008, that does not mean they are busy :p as said the online numbers are not what you expect compared to game sales. Hopefully they patch the online to make it a much more involving part of the game then we might see the online numbers increase.

If I'm spoilt for choice... then its busy. Simple as!

Ahhhhhhh so you wish to know why people arent playing online..... I cant answer that question. Simply because I dont know of those (apart from perhaps yourself and a few others) who dont play online.

So a patch to make the game more involving you say. Leaderboards are still missing.... Other than that what could this patch include? lol

You are not spoilt for choice, racing with on average of 5 people is not spoiling you, have you ever played any other racing game online? One of GT5's plus points is 16 player online racing, shame you won't ever find it....

XP, Cash, more structured events such as lining up tracks and keeping a points total over those tracks, matchmaking, some sort of online XP level to work with matchmaking, invite friends button, ability to see the room restrictions before joining, just a few that should have been included to begin with IMO.

That is all good. And I can only hope those feats will be included.

However, imo the online lounge is far from dead.

You obviously have a very different definition of the word busy then I do then. For me, Call of Duty is a perfect example of busy. There are always tens of thousands of people online, and sometimes it can be difficult to join a game because people manage to fill the last available slots before you join. That's busy. Having 100 available games with only a handful of people in each game isn't busy at all in my (and most people's I would guess) opinion. It's really quite poor, especially when you compare it to how many people bought the game.

If you're satisfied by the numbers online, and you can find games, then that's fine, but please don't call it busy, when it clearly isn't.

The reason a lot of people aren't playing online is probably due to the majority playing the offline modes. I bet that most people here who own the game don't play in random lobbies, I have about 10 people on my friends list who play GT every night and all they play are the offline modes.

As has been said, most people are probably still too busy cracking on through the offline challenges to spend too much time online. I'm one of them, made worse by the fact that every time I go online I've got the same old racing game issue where there's always a few immature little runts who want to ruin the race/session for everyone by ramming them in a Bugatti Veyron or some other high-powered car they can't control in the first place. Made even worse because they are usually the creator of the lobby or the lobby creator just doesn't care and the culprits never get kicked from the session.

It gets tiresome quickly and I usually end up leaving and going back to completing the single-player side of the game which at the moment is getting pretty tedious.

I've played a few games online to break up the monotony of grinding, but at the moment it seems to lack features or any form of reward for the time you put in. I'm happy to play online with my mates because we have a laugh but to sit there playing random strangers who never talk isn't my idea of fun, particularly when you get nothing out of it. Maybe i'm going in the wrong game rooms :)
