Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.

Sounds good but I bet it is 2012. :(

Mass Effect 2 is my favourite game to date, If they can make ME3 better, they can take all the time in the world.

I am in two minds, I REALLY REALLY want to play it now but I also want them to take there time and make it an epic ending.

Doesn’t sound like it carrys on from the ending of me2 :(

Also sounds like the same crap they did with me2, hope they don’t spend the entire game building your team and you take but earth in 20-30 minutes :(

They can take as long as they like. I'm currently dawdling my way through the PC versions of ME and ME2 so I can wait.
Despite the simplistic run and cover mechanics ME 2 is one the best and most polished games I've played. ME 3 has a lot to live up too.

We don't need more team members.

Just give me Liara, Garrus and Tali and I'm happy. The rest of ME2 mob were simply cannon fodder.

So long as they make the scenes of Earth destruction epic I suppose it should be good, and hopefully it'll have an ending that isn't predictable.

Feel like playing ME1/2 again now :o Cannot wait :D

It'd be pretty awesome if we got the first team from ME1 back as well.

EDIT: Zefan, agreed with that!

Let's hope it's better than ME2. Sure it was ok, but it didn't feel as magic as ME1 to me at all.

ME1 felt properly epic, and like it was breaking new ground, both of which ME2 lacked.

Sod Liara, just keep Garrus and Tali, the latter of which will 100% be in it anyway. I suspect that the reapers somehow do open up the portal in the Citadel and pour through it destroying virtually everything, and then using the relays to reach the rest of the system.

Still got to read the third book!

still have Ascension and Retribution to read as well!
Should have plenty of time to read them though

Mmm i should pick up the books sometime.

Agree that the ME2 lacked much of the epic feel of the first, it felt very anticlimatic, whereas the the final section in particular in ME1 was pretty awesome imo. They made all of this fuss about the Collectors in ME2, and then it just got brushed aside.

I don't mind if it picks up sometime later, as long as the story is told coherantly in a gripping and entertaining way.

And for the love of all that is good gaming, i hope some of the hopefully smart people at Bioware have taken notice and thought of a decent solution to the repetitive exploration in the last two games.

ME2 > ME1 in my humble opinion. But the characters were terribly underused. They do need to stick with your team (any surviving ones that is!) from ME2 and flesh out more of their stories.

This game will be much easier for BioWare to create as it is the final installment and thus they don't need to work out any variables and plot lines to carry onwards.

2012 is more than fine by me, I'm still on the first game! Really enjoying it though, haven't had this much mileage from a game since Fallout 3, think I'm on 42 hours or something and seemingly still lots left to do.

That description seems a bit rushed or far too early...

"As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine"

He's a bit more than that, first human Specter (which he still is depending on what you choose) and also in ME2 he has to join with the Cerberus organization, which doesn't really put him as part of the Alliance.

We don't yet know what the deal is with the Illusive Man, but is he going to just go back to being a Marine for Earth's military?

I'd bet this is out by Christmas 2011. If they have the engine and the story sorted before they began creating Mass Effect 2, then that shortcuts A LOT of time :)

My guess though, cannot wait!!!

Long as Miranda/Garrus have big parts in it then win! I have ME1/2 on 360 but im so so tempted to pick the 2nd one up again on PS3 for all the extra content + its an epic game anyway

Not sure how you guys bring yourselves to play ME2 more than the once, let alone buy it a second time!

Maybe I'm just being grumpy :p
