Hello

This thread will be my build log. I have just got all the parts (minus the Arctic Silver 5 that should have been in the box) and shall be building later, if I fancy using the thermal compound that comes with the Titan Fenrir Evo, or asap once the Arctic Silver 5 issue is sorted.

Here's the stuff

Build started at 1200 Saturday 11th December 2010.

Hmm, something is not right. I can't find the bracket that holds the heatsink to the back plate

I don't seem to have the correct parts and one part looks different from the install guide. WTF?!?!?!?!?

Hang on a sec, I might be the biggest retard there ever was :D

Heatsink installed. Not quite how I wanted to orientate it but I such is life. The closest memory socket is unusable now as the bracket just overlaps. If I ever want more memory I'll just buy 2 larger modules.

Very nice :) should have took a picture of my stuff yesterday.

Looking at a heatsink to go on mine so I can Overclock it.

I don't know how people can wait when they receive goodies like that, I'm like a child at Christmas ripping the boxes open. :D

It's a bloody struggle but I want the Arctic Silver 5 paste that is on it's way to me now (I hope it'll be here in the morning or I may have to just say sod it and use the paste that came with the Titan)

Im the same, when i built my i7 rig, i was waiting on some MX3 in the post, got fed up having no machine, found a tube of AS Ceramique in a drawer, (4 years old), built the system in record time, though still managed to put the ram in the wrong slots.:o

First stumbling block. The Titan Fenrir Evo is bloody big and the only way I can orientate it with the fan, and heat sink clear, is the fan blowing towards the memory.

Hmm. If I reverse the fan so it's pulling air through the heatsink towards the rear exhaust fan........

Nice selection of components. The Titan Fenrir Evo is a bit fiddly I found to fit too. Will it not fit the other was (rotated by 180 degrees) so fan pulls air from front to back without blocking RAM slot, although the fan may be removed when trying to get at the first DIMM?

So far so so so. Bloody hell, trying to keep a cable tidy case is a lot of effort :D

Trying to get the main power cable into position but the damn socket on the mobo is the wrong way round for it to have been simple for me A 180 rotation and a cable behind the mobo tray you have been well hidden

Just get it chucked in and working first, then redo the cables later.

Rotate that cooler 180 degrees.

Good point

Getting there. Glad I am not using any parts from this PC so I can get windows installed on the new one tonight and then cable tidy tomorrow whilst on this one.
