Would be a good appointment for Aberdeen.

Archie Knox takes no prisoners.

He`ll do a good job up there providing some money is made available for wages for new players. I assume those assurances were given in the call from Stuart Milne.

Surprising given his statements to the media and the job he's done at Motherwell. Must've been guaranteed money for players that they 'well couldn't provide?

It is only really surprising if you look at the SPL table and see teh difference between 'Well and the Dons (13 points, 5th v 11th, though 'well have a game in hand).

Aberdeen are the third best supported team in Scotland and overall a bigger team than Motherwell (sorry Motherwell fans! lol)

I can't see how he would be guaranteed much for transfers as Aberdeen are £12m in debt (apparently) and don't really have any sellable assets to raise capital.

Interesting times though....

Sorry but I have to dispute that fact!!!

According to the official SPL average attendances over the past 5 seasons *7 out of the previous 9 seasons* Hearts have been found to have the 3rd largest Average attendance as well as Hibs sitting 4th the majority of the time.

(Select average attendance if you want to check it out)

Aberdeen seem to languish around 5th. Certainly if Brown can bring the "good old days" back to Aberdeen that might improve but who knows what's possible with what seems like a horrendous job proposition at the minute.

Are they really the third best supported team? I'd be inclined to suspect both Edinburgh clubs have a higher average attendance than Aberdeen.

[Edit: Gah, beaten! Serves me right for not refreshing.]

I stand corrected :)

I do feel that as a 'one city team' though, if Aberdeen started to win games, they would take 3rd lol. Particularly as Hibs and Hearts have their annual crowd figures inflated by the Edinburgh Derby.

I agree that the job does seem like a poisoned chalice, particularly as Brown is riding on the crest of a wave with Motherwell atm. However, maybe Brown is looking further ahead - for instance with Blackman and Gow out of contract next month, will 'Well keep a hold of them?

Final scores:
Hearts 5-0 Aberdeen
St Mirren 1-2 St Johnstone

A good day for Hearts or another shocking day for Aberdeen? Either way it's not looking all that good for Aberdeen, currently joint bottom on points with Hamilton but having played more games.

ah well, at least my home town are 40 points on top of the league in Germany.

Don't know why I care about Aberdeen just because I've lived here for 16 years.

Can only hope a decent clear out in January funded by Milne's own pockets :)

Diamond, Ifil, Aluko, Langfield, Young, Mackie, Velicka... get rid of them all.

I can't belive that you swopped Foster for Velicka in the first place mate!

When it is blatant. He lost footing got a slight shove and went down his reaction of not claiming for anything tells it all.
