New car on the horizon - maybe?

Admiral have been a bit rubbish for me lately

Bell or Elephant seem way better for youngsters :).

They're all the same company, but oddly, Admiral always seem to give me the better quote.

If you ring Bell/ Elephant and say Admiral have quoted you £xxx, they'll instantly match it. By doing that, I instantly shave £200 - £300 off when my renewal comes through.

if you can try doing a quote for a multicar policy with one of your parents as the first car and yours as the second.

ive done this and it came out around £800 cheaper for me as the main driver on a multi car policy compared to just myself on a normal policy

Blackhawk47;17975653 Top speed of the mini is 90[/QUOTE said:
Really? I've had my old SPi to over 90 and that engine was an absolute state. My current carb I've had to 90 and it's still pulling... that's indicated, not gps.

Do bear in mind that Admiral are giving you the discounted quote based on you paying the whole amount in one go. If you pay monthly then you can expect a significant hike over what you've been quoted.

I would pay the full amount.

Just to see what my mini would be like with admiral through the comparison website - it came out at £1100, fully comp, my policy. I am paying £1000 and its in my own name. :)

Just for a laugh Mark I put in a X type 3.0 v6 - £3999 comp. :D :(

Now I've put this through the quotes and admiral is once again cheapest at £2500 for this car:

That makes me want something like a 3 series more.

Listen son its all about the timing, you suffer the noisy Jap thing for a couple years if you must sell the Mini, then you come out fighting and SMASH it with the Jag at 21, get in there :D

Paying £650 fully comp with Bell :D

You are mentally ill if you're thinking of paying over £2000 on insurance, wait until you're older and have more ncb.

To be fair youngsters spend well over £2k a year for cars a lot more mundane and boring that a modern MX5.

I work with a lad paying £2,700 a year for an automatic 1.6 Ford Focus .

If you live in the City or want to drive something that is vaguely interesting £2k+ for the first couple of years is par for the course.

My memory might be clouded in the 20 years since i was last in a Mini, but it is British, thats British noise!

And what a NOISE! :D :p

Honestly I love the Mini, everything about it bar things like leg room and other problems which are pretty out of my control unless I spend a considerable amount of money and which as I've gotten taller over the last two years which made it become difficult. :o
