That's why attacking .gov sites is a good idea. More difficult to bring down I'd suspect but the media would be all over it like a rash and the public will be behind anyone giving it to the Gov....

Why target EU sites and not US?

From what I gather, quite a few of 'anonymous' are US citizens, they know that if they commit computer crime in Europe, the chances of being caught are pretty low, the risk of extradition to an EU country is low, and the US authorities aren't all that interested. I spent a bit of time in the IRC channels which 'anonymous' use and this came up a few times.
