Sudanese woman whipped in the street for wearing trousers

Britain joined conflict with Nazi Germany through fear of German expansionism and Military growth.
Through fear of being taken over, not through anything as grand as stopping the holocaust.
What [TW]Fox said.

The Ivory Coast is looking at international sanctions because of the way its President assumed power within that nation. Also, the recent Wikileaks release of American diplomatic documents show that it is common currency among the West to base relations and diplomatic efforts on the state of internal humanitarian or political affairs within a country.

The latter example may not be the overriding factor of diplomatic exchange, but it and the preceding example does show that it is the accepted norm internationally that certain basic values can carry over between cultures.

Missed this little gem. You're an idiot. Because of your moronic statement, I'm going to go ahead and assume that you'll have a hard time following a lengthy post of words.. So, I'll go ahead and give you a picture.

If to you, I'm an idiot for expressing my opinions then so be it. The fact is that there are many followers of Islam who are brain washed to commit crime and terrorism for no other purpose than the contents for which they have been religiously lectured on. Their source and motive tracks back to their religion, their so called belief in what is supposedly right. Now, I don’t have a problem with Muslims because the majority of Muslims are people like many who just follow a religion. However I do have an issue with people who use their religion as an excuse for causing terror. So in that context, yes some people, especially YOU needs to be woken up.

Yes of course but we did'nt know the holocaust was taking place. It's an invalid argument using the holocaust really because as you've stated we entered the war due to fear of Germany's power.

To your previous comments, i would have thought you might have been swayed by some of Tetsuji comments. I'm amazed that your still fighting that it's acceptable, I sort of agree with you that it is their country and they can do what they want but surely have 'we' (the earth) not reached a point in which we should all read from the same book. There is no other word apart from barbaric to discribe that behaviour, every human being deserves human rights.

They need to improve and evolve like we have, it won't happen over night but every little helps. I hope by the end of this thread you won't still have the view of "leave them to it".

Backwards country and a backwards set of laws, Islam is nasty religion.

Again i ask where does it say in Islam that a woman shall be beaten/whipped if she wears trousers/pants or jeans exactly??...Quite clearly it doesnt unless you can show me where it does say that....i could understand somewhat if she was wearing a mini skirt or something revealing as it does say in Islam that women should protect their modesty ie cover up. But the actual punishment is not something i agree with or condone.

Sure its a backward set of laws and country...mind u the country of Sudan is war torn as it is so what do you expect when majority of the people there arent even educated so wouldnt know any better or have no hope of bettering themselves.

The whipping was carried out under sharia law!! did you miss that point.

Yes of course but we did'nt know the holocaust was taking place.
The Allies fully aware of the Holocaust and looked into bombing railway lines in Poland to delay its progress. It was decided that this wasn't cost-effective and the best way to ultimately stopping the Holocaust was the military defeat of the Third Reich.

They probably think the same sort of thing about us. It is THEIR Country with THEIR Laws, nothing to do with us, let them get on with it, the woman lived there so knew the Laws, she chose to ignore them, she suffered the consequences.

We get outraged when other Cultures try to enforce their views on us, so why would us trying to force our views on them be any different to them?

100 years from now we live in a heavily oppressed society much like that in the film Equilibrium. You are required to take drugs which supress all natural human emotions and are told this is for societys benefit as it will reduce crime and hate. The punishment for refusing to take the drug, like in the film, is death.
By your sentiment, that is perfectly acceptable because anyone living in that society would know they were to face the death penalty should they break the law.

So you see how idiotic your statement was.

No i didnt Sherlock...but thanks for pointing that out.

Now if you dont mind please answer my question...where does it say in the Quran or in Islam that a woman should be beaten or whipped if she wears pants/trousers or jeans exactly??.

See this is exactly the stupid misconception people have about Sharia Law and its relation to Islam...of course a lot of Sharia Law is related to Islam, theres no doubting that but this Sharia Law has, as far as im aware absolutely nothing to do with Islam as a whole....its just a made up barbaric law to keep their people in line...which it has achieved so far.

I stand corrected, i just assumed no one knew anything about it until we found some of the camps after declaring war against the Germans.

My statement was in reply to a specific question, you and a lot of other idiots have managed to twist it completely out of context (As I have mentioned in an earlier Post which all the clever quoters keep missing..), go back and read the quotation I was specifically addressing. Also, what I did Post was sadly Fact, whether you agree/disagree it is a Fact. At no point did I agree with what happened, nor I ever will.

BTW Keep on quoting me out of context people, it's getting hilarious! :D

Sharia Law is the sacred law of islam. It is not just the state law of Sudan. It is derived from the Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. As I understand it, it is then interpreted by religious leaders. Yes, it probably doesn't actually say in the Qur'an or other religious texts that "If a woman wears trousers, whip her in public", but I really don't see why you are trying to separate Islam from Sharia. It is a part of the religion..
