Figured I'd run a little test to see who's got more money than sense!

The test is:

Who is upgrading to Sandy Bridge from they're current i7 (Bloomfield I think?)?

Post your replies here ;)

Still on my Q9550 here and quite happy with it. Have been tempted by an i7 build, but am going to be waiting a little longer to build a new machine.

Correct. Didn't realise this was an english lesson! My bad though... I'm usually a bit better with punctuation. Ish.

No real point to this thread really, I just wanted to see what people were going to do when SB comes out. I've seen a lot of people with i7 rigs (in THEIR sigs) that are saying they will be upgrading to SB when it comes out so I wanna see just HOW many people have too much money ;)

Well I'm sure there are/were people that upgraded from a GTX 480 to a GTX 580, so some people may go from an i7 to a SB. Although as I understand it the initial SB wont be as good as the 1366 i7 platform, since the initial SB will be the replacement for the 1156 platform. Maybe they can upgrade to the enthusiast version when that's released, who knows what will have happened in that time.

Still if I'm honest I don't like the title of this thread. Making it sound wrong to upgrade just because you don't see the point. I'm sure people have their reasons and it might not always be purely based on performance. I for example just like having new stuff to play with. It's the reason I change my mobile phone at the end of each contract to a new expensive phone that has features I wont use.
Just to balance I'd be equally annoyed by a thread titled "The 'too stupid to get a good enough job to be able to easily afford to get all the latest technology' test" :)

*Double checks spelling and grammar to the best of his ability prior to posting... ;)*

I see no reason to upgrade my i7 920 until probably the successor to Ivy Bridge or Bulldozer (i.e. 2013+). I can get SATA 6 Gbps or USB 3.0 with an add-in card if need be (might as well use some of my PCI-E slots).

Sorry if it makes it sound like that to you. But I also never said I don't see the point as I would love to have 'more money than sense' as to me this isn't an offensive phrase... it's a complementary phrase to me as it means your rich!

I know what it's like to want to upgrade. I've just upgraded to my rig below and in spite of not having much money left I am looking at other things to upgrade it with!!

The title is by NO MEANS meant offensively. (c)
