*** The Official ATI Radeon HD 6970 & 6950 Reviews, Discussion and Overclocking Thread ***

I am quite happy HardOCP tested at those resolutions as those are the ones I play at (I also understand not many here play at those resolutions either!). I never read into biased comments (e.g blow out of the water and such crap) but bare numbers.

That said, in my opinion, when it comes to those resolutions 2560x1440 and the like, the 6970 beats the crap out of the 570 :D

Merry Xmas to All :)

P.D And you can get a HIS one for 256 quid all in today only - bargain!

Merry Christmas one and all!

OCP review of 69** is biggest pile of bull**** around.
It's up there with thoms review of 6870 vs a 950mhz £200 "retail 460 card........" that got sent by Nvidia prior to review......

£428 for CF 6950

£560 for Sli 570

The choice is easy 6950 all the way

Am very pleased with my 6950 thus far - it guzzles less leccy than my 4870 (both under load and at idle) and is just as quiet to boot!

You actually own the card so your opinion won't matter. What would matter is if you owned a competitors card and you'd spent hours trawling the dozens of reviews to find bad stuff to post that you thought made your card look better.

I have a 6950 and its a great card for the price.

So have I and I've ordered a second one to have a go at Xfire, appears to offer superior ban for buck than going down the gtx 570 route which I was considering a while ago, minimal performance increase with 570 for well over a £100 more, its a no brainer to me.:)

That's about right for a stock 6970, ignore the min fps, let the bench loop once before you run the benchmark for accurate fps results.

and in dx10

bear in mind my 6970 is running 900/1425

would i see much gain from clocking the life out it in games?

Anyone else noticing instances where the core speed is throttling back? Just playing a game of bc2:nam and on a few instances the core clock dropped back to 550mhz at about 90c or thereabouts. Great news is i just ordered a second card, wondering how the hell im gonna manage to keep these things cooled when a single card is occasionally throttling with an intake fan about 2 inches in front of it.

You look like you have good cooling, how the hell is it doing 90c+ faulty HS? the fan noise must be atrocious.

Havn't noticed the fan much as i game with headphones on. :p

Its possible the thermal compound could be too thick or badly applied i suppose.
