I don't like how it's all playing out now to be honest.
The landlord is only suspected yet already people have come out about him being weird and gay and getting on the bandwagon to trash talk someone. What if he's innocent?

The longer they hold him without charging him the less likely i think they will. It almost screams that the CPS don't have enough evidence to get a conviction.

I really think that the media need stronger restrictions on the way the report these sort of events. A suspect has been arrested and they immediately appear to go out of their way to find out any sordid detail they possibly can about that person's past. They appear to make the assumption that the arrested person is guilty without a shred of evidence to back that up and so they go searching for any scrap of circumstantial rubbish that supports their flimsy theories.
It's sickening and it destroys innocent people's lives. Whatever happened to "innocent before proven guilty"?
Once it's been proven in a court of law - then fine, they can go to town. But until then, they should be forced to respect the suspect's privacy and stop acting like vultures circling a corpse.

Anyway I hope they find evidence soon so that the family can have some closure.

Umh, no idea what that is getting at as like I said I haven't been following this story. The cynic in me would suggest you're saying that it's a big deal because she's an attractive, white, British girl but wouldn't want to assume anything.
I live in the UK, and I am a native, in what is often referred to as "the murder capital of Europe" so perhaps I've become used to killings in a way... But, I'd still be interested as to know what is so major about this case.

I think you'll find it's called empathy.
It happened at Christmas for a start so there is a lot of emotion there for many people due to the timing when families are supposed to be getting together to enjoy the festive season. Instead, Joanna's family were identifying her dead body.
Secondly, the mystery surrounding the entire episode has to stir some curiousity in many people... her coat, keys, etc were all left inside the flat. The "missing" pizza. It's just, well, odd I suppose is the best way to describe it. A lot of people want to know what happened.
Finally, in my opinion, it's scary how a young woman like this can have got home safely (presumably) only to then be brutally murdered and dumped on the side of a road. It makes me and I'm sure a lot of other people re-evaluate their own mortality. We think we're safe in our own houses, this case disproves that theory.
I have always said this.... All the press should be allowed to say is something like "a 50 year old man has been arrested" along with the other facts. This means that the person is unidentifiable to most people and, should it prove that the arrestee is innocent then they can go back to their life (mostly) without everyone knowing.
Should he be proven guilty then print details

I completely agree. There's nothing wrong in reporting the bare facts as you've quoted. But then allow the police to do their job.

A young woman going missing and then being found strangled is not the same as some scrote stabbing another scrote. Murders and dissappearences of a more "unusual" nature like this are almost always reported in the media. If you went missing in the same circumstances and were later found strangled in a ditch then that would very likely be reported too.
The public are always interested in cases like this, and yes, especially when it involves a tragic story of a young pretty girl. It generally strikes a chord with anyone capable of feeling basic emotion, and from the cold news perspective makes a very good story.
So yes, it was a bit of a silly question if you think about it.
I wasn't aware of any of that, so thanks for clearing it up.
The media didn't have any other big stories to report on. They used this one. Simples.
