What would you do?

No I'm not, life changing is being able to use that money effectively to really better you life for a long time. Paying off some debt is nice and frees up some cash but t wot make a difference in the long term.

You cannot live off £50k for the rest of your life, nobody can say it won't make a difference to your situation but it is not life changing.

Maybe take another read of what I said... The salient points being -

Not everyone deems "life changing" as giving up work and living off cash you have etc.

To some people, "life changing" is just being comfortable day to day....

50K may not, for you, be life changing and you are fortunate that this is the case but to many other people, 50K is indeed life changing. Example? -

It may allow someone on the dole to enter further education, gain a qualification, find a good job because of this qualification and start earning a significant amount of money for their future....

THAT'S life changing for some people.

Just an example though

That's still a lot of money! You looking to rent a 3 bed semi with a car thrown in?

Nope I live in London and probably spend that amount (15-20k) on general living expenses throughout the year. It really isn't that much at all for London. If I was to take a year out to be a student then there is a good chance I'd stay here and I'm not about to start living of pot noodles etc..

£50,000? Why that I'd get these:

RRP = £50k! :D

are you for real?

Just because it would be a big deal to you does not mean it would be the same for everyone.
I'd love it if someone gave me £50k but it would all go on clearing *some* debt which would be nice but wouldn't be life changing.

If I didn't have the debt then I'd be able to spend it extravagently which would meake more of a difference.

Learn to drive and buy/insure a car. Despite the money it doesn't have to be a 'new' car.

A lovely new iPhone and MacBook Pro.

I have no clue about investing so the rest would stay in a savings account until needed.

clearing debt wouldn't be life changing? i've never been in any debt in my life (other than a mortgage) but i'm aware of just how debt can ruin a persons life, clearing that debt is therefore life changing and if you haven't got debt you can put it to lots of life changing uses. it's a heck of a lot of money, whether you have lots of money or not. would you see any of the dragons den panel or lord sugar not showing £50k the respect it deserves? of course you wouldn't because they know that if you don't respect money, it'll dissapear through your fingers.

clearing debt wouldn't be life changing.

No. I have a lot of debt, but none of it is at crippling interest rates so it's quite manageable.
So clearing some off would make a marginal difference each month. I'd have a bit more each month and would save a lot over the long term, but it's not that much of a problem as it stands.

To some it might be life changing, but not to me.

you have a lot of debt, it's quite clear to see why

To that sort of person £100 is life changing, I am talking in general.

The majority of people here are saying the would invest it, that shows it's not life changing. It's a nice sum to have for sure, bit that doesn't make it life changing.

showing they would invest show's it's not life changing? again ... are you for real?
