Tell me about f10 and e60 520

If you are looking at LCI E60s primarily, don't rule out the 525d, it's still a 3-litre 6-pot with ~200BHP.

Yes, my brother in law has one, and by my failure to keep up with him the other night in my e39 528i, I rate the diesels performance !! :o:D

I take it that the 528i is not in the best of health then?

Its in rude health - now I've swapped a couple of dodgy Coil packs, prior to the said encounter - thanks.

The main reason for me not having a race is simple, one car is a 57 reg, company owned (& maintained) with circa 130k on the clock.

The other, is 13 years old, has gone to the moon & is on its way back, and privately owned & maintained.

So surprisingly I didn't want to (and don't) cane it at all.

It pulled away a lot sharper than I thought it would (the e60) , then again, it hardly surprises me that such a car would walk all over my example - in terms of performance. Does it you?

Given its age & miles, its no shock, to me, that its down on power.

Yes, it does, as the performance in each is roughly the same.

I think you somewhat disregard the small detail one has more than double the miles of the other, and,its hardly uncommon for high mileage engines to be down on power.

I would not be surprised if its a lot better after its next service (where I'm swapping all 6 coil packs, I'm fairly sure if two were duff, the other four won't be too clever either!) equally, I won't be expecting it to feel like its making factory BHP, at its age & miles, it won't.

Perhaps when it came out of the factory 15 years ago :p

Mine dyno'd at factory power with 150k on it, though I guess it was a third of the age. That said I see no reason why a well serviced car would be noticeably down on power simply due to age?

See how it dyno's @ 263 (ish) k, then draw your conclusion. At 150k miles, yours was / should have been at its prime, another 110k on top , plus the extra age (and things like aged coil packs etc) its hardly surprising they drop off.

And don't get me wrong, it drives fine and will easily crack on when required, but its noticably slower than my previous 328i (which was lighter, sure)

One of them doesn't say it has leather, but it does?
Dealers can be lazy and don't often list the full spec, esp. when it's standard equipment.

FWIW, the Logic 7 is well worth it IMO and not a particularly commonly-found option.

Thats what drew my eye to it. Im hoping fox has seen them both in the flesh since he is quite close to them (aren't you fox?)
