Battlefield Bad Company quick yay or nay?

I strongly suggest that you NOT get this game and get something else instead.

It's embarrassingly bad no matter what people say, here's just a few issues off the top of my head:
  • The lagg is shocking. Doesn't matter if you play on a European/U.K server, you're always bound to have 100 or more ping, like everyone else. Because of the lagg, you'll shoot someone, kill them and then 2-3 seconds later you'll die by the guy you just killed. The lagg is on par with these crappy 'Free 2 Play' peer-to-peer based games.
  • Practically everyone plays as the Sniper Class. Due to the maps being that large people don't bother with anything else and usually it's just a camp fest.
  • No one bothers with objectives, choosing instead to Snipe from afar instead of capping flags/bases. Literally every game mode, no matter what it's called turns into a Deathmatch.
  • Horrid, cluky controls. Honestly, come off CS:S and play this. Feels like a console to PC port, the aiming feels no where near accurate enough for what it should do for a game like this.
  • Retarded players. You'll mostly play with Eurotrash that will shoot you on sight if you take 'their' car/helicopter/boat/tank. Pathetic behaviour, I honestly thought there would be more mature players playing this game.

By all means, feel free to give it a go but prepare to be disappointed.

So much rubbish here.
1. Ping is calculated differently on the server tab view than when you enter a server.
2. No
3. No
4. No
5. No, eurotrash??

BFBC2 in my opinion is well worth it, a great multi-player experience.

What a load of crap.... I always get a ping of around 20-30ms and I get no lag whatsoever, the bullet registry is spot on.

Seems like it's just you

Haha love it! I would love to play bfbc2 with ya! :)

wow thanks for the input guys, think im deffo gonna give this ago.

I will have to do the single player game 1st tho to get used to how the game works, i'd be a sitting duck online if i dived straight into it lol.

I beg to differ. It's just a different kind of intensity.

yeah like waiting around in bushes for nothing to happen lol.

really have no idea how to play that game online i find it almost impossible to find enemies.

Edit: As for BFBC2 its probably the best FPS to date, unless your like me and love BF2 that little bit more. :D

That's half the fun :)

I'm not sure that single player really gives you that much of an advantage. I'd recommend finding someone on here willing to show you the ropes in a squad.

Another really useful tip for a new player is to pick up kits you see sitting around. The guns you get will almost certainly be better than your starting equipment.

Also - if you want to rank up quickly, play as a medic as they get the most points in the form of revives and heals. Personally I'd not recommend this unless you actually want to play as medic, of course. Whichever class you happen to be playing, be sure to drop plenty of ammo crates, health kits and sensor mines, even if you don't think anyone needs them right at that moment.

Nah online is easy to get the hang of and it's where the fun is at.

The single player campaign is good, I enjoyed it its just short.

As a medic i usually have a very high Death rate but my score usually puts me on top and thus i go through the ranks quicker :p

In BFBC2 finding enemies is easy. Play as recon (but not the camping in bushes/at spawn kind), throw sense mines as far as you can...follow the orange blips. Easy :)

SP does not prepare you for MP in any way (apart from maybe learning the controls).

This is how MP usually works in BFBC2.

1. Start MP - You join a server, die.
2. Die some more.
3. Get some kills, but generally have a negative KDR.
4. Get neutral KDR, start to understand what weapons work best for you. Unlocks starting so some good guns to choose from in whatever class you're playing as.
5. Die loads, die when spawning.
6. Die loads.
7. Something clicks and you start to get positive KDR and understand the maps and their layouts.
8. Jump in a chopper as pilot, immediately crash and get called a noob for your efforts.
9. Join us for some SQDM and chopper lols, then the game really becomes 'fun'

:D

KDR isn't everything, not if you're a medic!. As many times you will need to revive the team or players and the enemy is waiting for you, especially if the team needs to push ahead. No good if they're all dead lol

It is a yay from me, great game.

The problems buchtis brings up happen no more frequently then in any other multiplayer FPS game.

1. Ping is calculated differently on the server tab view than when you enter a server.
2. The recon class can be played as a sniper with a scoped gun, or it can be played close or medium range with shotguns or assault rifles which are general unlocks, this class also has the C4 explosives so is not designed to be a fully long range class, it depends how you play it.
3. Depends on your team, like any other multiplayer FPS game this will change server to server and team to team.
4. Not noticed this, I had a problem with mouse lag before I changed some settings in the game files and nvidia cp.
5. See #3.
