Does anyone watch the adverts for these magazine based, 'Get 1 part with each edition, and build your own amazing 1:8 scale 007 Aston Martin DB5' adverts, and think WOW thats AMAZING.

I only need to buy 84 editions at £6.99 a piece, totalling £587 + the £1.99 introductory issue?! Where do i sign?!
I mean who buys all 85 editions?! what happens if the publisher goes bust after a year or so?!

Why not just go out and buy a full kit, that you know, includes all the parts up front? Surely it cant be that expensive?

Always thought these were stupid, and like you said, lots of the time the publishers go bust or give up on the magazine.

I was myself mulling this over the other night...£587 for a model??....you gotta be kidding me...im pretty sure you could get the same model cheaper from somewhere else.

i bet you that the model itself is probably made out of cheap crap plastic that will fall to pieces as soon as you touch it:p.

Over here it's €10.99 per issue & I think €2.99 for the introductory.

Total: €926.15

Just did a currency conversion and £587 = €700 There's a great saving to be had in the UK, if you would be as good to sign me up at your local newsagent I'd be most grateful. :)

LOL two foot long and twenty pounds. Snap together parts, I bet it doesn’t have wire wheels. I bet you'll have fun and games if parts are missing. No thanks.

I dont know how many copies my newsagent will be able to handle once they start shipping the body shell. i mean, its like pretty freaking big and will surely just clog up the shelves/get stolen by little urchins who always steal the attached goodies from magazines.

There are always loads of things like that, but I assume some people actually do go and buy every single issue.

And I'm better almost every single poster (ok ok, a lot of posters...) less than 25 has bought at least one issue of that magazine on dinosaurs that came with 3D glasses and every week came with a figure to build a T-rex :p

I know someone at primary school that completed t-rex, not just the skeleton, but the outer shell

The best one of these things was How My Body Works where you got to build the dude with all the internals. Still have all the books in the loft :D

To be fair Superewza thats a 1;43 model, noth 1:8 so the one u mention is about 5 cm long, the other is about 2 foot long..

10-12.5cm long it says, but i did mention that. It does beg the question, does it really cost more than 1000% more to make it a little bigger?

what's the magazine contain?

This has always been a good selling point. As you aren't paying that money for the model (you might be in this case but never used to). You get a magazine and to keep you buying said magazine they give you a free model. Hoping you will start building it and as such won't lapse your subscription. Was always shipped with kids info magazines, like how the body works, or encyclopaedia type stuff.

I've seen this advert a good few times and it does look good but as already discussed, I couldn't justify spending £587 altogether on it. I remember years ago when that Real Robots started and I started that from the beginning but I gave up after about the first 10 subscriptions as the parts that were included were becomming less and less (I think this was criticised and complained about at one point as well).
