Setting up Asus Xonar DG and Goldring NS1000

I use mine with the cable side on the left ear, with my xonar dx i use 8 channel, 192khz with jazz preset, and Dolby headphone 1, very good all round, all my music saved on the pc is in flac, use the same settings for blu ray playback, the sound is amazing, im no audiophile but the difference is unbelievable from onboard sound, for £50.00 the ns1000's are a bargain.

My NS1000s have little white labels saying L and R just inside the headband above each earcup.

really? can u show me? thake a picture or somthing...because i dont see any white labels.. except for the Brand label 'Goldring NS-1000' on the top of the headband =/

The cable should by your left ear. It's quite obvious to me, it doesn't feel right the other way around.

well..i thought the cable should be on the right (when wearing) ..because the earcups are suppose to sit on your chest when hanging around your neck =/

I don't think the newer ones do, at least I can't remember seeing them on my pair.

I don't think there is any specific way for them to be made, I've seen quite a few headphones with the cups facing up like the NS1000s, and quite a few facing down too. I'd personally prefer facing down to avoid damaging the cone though.

Can't be bothered to read throughout the entire thread but I noticed some of you guys have problem with the "hiss". It appears on two occasions, when charging the E5 and a very slight one, if you set the amp to max volume.

I don't know how good your hearing is but it is definitely noticeable and can be easily cancelled by lowering the amp volume by 3-4 notches.

Remember, when E5's turns off on low battery, it's sound goes all the way down to the lowest setting. Each time it does that, you have to crank it up back to its intended volume.

This is my experience and what I tried to explain earlier.

From my and many others experience Fisual appears to be the best budget audio cable manufacturer around, it doesn't break the bank like some of the bigger names but is still a quality purchase. Kind of like Goldring I guess :D

How flexible is the cable?

I bought a Loops one, which is very good quality, but it's too stiff for a headphone cable IMO. The QED one that comes with the DR150's is nice and flexible.

Fisual. Can be bought from the famous auction site, if you can't find them anywhere else. Loops also make very good quality cables, but they are quite stiff.

I'd recommend against buying from that auction site, pretty much everything audio has it's own counterfeit versions that are lower quality but difficult to disconcern, the recent CX400 thread is evidence enough of this.

The cable I've recommended is a Fisual 3.5mm male to female 3m extension, it's from a relatively well known audio/visual company and not an all-rounder like the rain forest site.

u sure its a well known brand?

might be me...or my crap search skills... but i cant seem to find it anywhere on the net

Just got mine through the post, (the ns1000's) I love them, the bass is awesome and I have absolutely no hiss with ANR on (maybe I got lucky). One last thing, and my only gripe, they don't seem to go that loud? I have max settings in my DG and on the PC and in the media player yet it's not that loud.

You need an amp then :p

This headphones were such a mistake, I want to upgrade to a better amp and a new soundcard now :(

I can hear it fine, it's just I can't get it up to a level where it would hurt my ears, So I'll probably invest in a fiio e5.

Had a go on CSS as well. Enabled virtual 7.1 and Dolby Headphone, and talk about sound whore. You can hear everything :D. So awesome.
