The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I'm on about 60m now :)

Some corp mates are above 100m, oh how I wish I was there too.

It's odd, I don't really wish I had a lot more tbh, would spoil having something to look forward too :p
Looking forward there are Command Ships I'd like to fly, and I need to work up my skills for large sized weapons to properly fit a battleship the way I'd like (Mega pulse lasers with scorch :D)

For solo PVP you need a lot of experience, skill and a ship such as vagabond, cynabal or dramiel.
lol. Well I wouldn't limit it to that, but you can't go wrong with any of them. Something dead quick, or another method to evade enemies you know you can't beat is ideal :)

Where is the OcUk corp based?

It's spread all over the place really. Some of us roam about, some stay around mission hubs etc

Soon to have all cruiser V and BS V but never flown a command ship. That's next then onto carriers after that :)

I think with another 40m SP "new" and viable stuff to train for small group work will be hard. Will just be perfecting skills. With no content this is probably total rubbish though.

that extra bit makes all the difference in pvp mind, i've lost count the number of times i've beaten folks 1on1 with only structure left in nullsec.

makes the gallente drone spec V and large blaster spec V worth it :P

Is there any legitimate way of selling Characters these days? I've got a 44mil SP extremely focused caldari character but I have zero interest in the games these days?

you can sell for isk on the forums, but for cash no.
You could sell on certain auction sites but its unadvisable as its against the regs and will get the account banned if its found out.

also bear in mind if you sell for isk you have to either pay 20euro or use 2x plexes to transfer the character to another persons account.

if its a pvp char, you could possibly get 10-12billion for 44m

I think im going to start completely a new when incursion comes.

I've said to people before, that's a pointless thing to do, especially for a new(ish) character. If you've hardly got any skillpoints as it is and you've not used your starting remaps you're just giving up skillpoints for no real reason and you'll likely have to learn the skills again at some point anyway.

Nothing you've done in game up to this point has tied you in to any particular style of play so just decide what you want to do from now on, plug your skillplan into Evemon, remap and away you go. :)

Up to 52mil, 24mil and 3.5mil toons now

Null sec alliance is great fun, mining around 6bil isk in minerals on a lage op :P

Word of advice to the new guys, stick to a single plan, like getting yourself into a t2 cruiser with maxed out stats before you move onto something else

6Bill between how many of you for how much effort? Sounds a very nice amount of cash!

Seconded on plan like that. The first 6 months or so on Eve I jumped back and forth on my skill plans, but I've concentrated on just flying T2 Amarr/Minimitar cruisers to a high level despite still having a fair bit of crosstraining with weapons and tanking types.
With my Alt I've just gone with pure Caldari missiles/shield tank - so whilst she has low SP she's a solid character at just over 9m SP.

I want to mix it up a bit; I have never done any PVP (not willingly lol) here are my character stats:

Intelligence 25
Perception 19
Charisma 18
Willpower 19
Memory 19

Currently have a Thorax with 5 small railguns, cap charger, some kind of armour plates and an afterburner (these are from 2007 and I won't bother upgrading)

Got Evemon on the go now and planning my course to a bigger and better ship. All I have to do now is earn a ton of ISK without going mad with boredom!

Edit: Is there a way to show a link to character sheet? I'd like some advice on how to proceed

It's not really a matter of looking at your skills and advising you what to learn (although electronics, mechanics and engineering to 5 is a must), it's really a question you need to ask about what you want to do, then we can give advice on what you need to train.

If you're set on running missions for the time being, then i'd recommend getting a battlecruiser of ideally the drake variety with shields and train towards t2 heavy missiles.

If it's pvp you seek, then you'll need on the basic level propulsion jamming to fit warp disrupters and scramblers.

You can link your character for all to see, and you will need your API key to do this.

http://www.evesp.com to input your character sheet

http://www.oc-ps.co.uk to sign up to the alliance forums

Even if you're not part of the alliance, there are guides there you can look through to help you.

We're in the process of getting ocuk back up to a training corp to help players get back in game. The difficulty at the moment is that Dage is bringing his assets back out of nullsec but should be up and running soon, please drop by the ocuk public channel in game if anyone else is interested. I know d_brennen has already been in.

is it pos to keep yourself in PLEX running lvl 4 missions? if so what ships people use? ravens?

Ravens are probably best of the non faction/T2 ships overall due to being able to deal decent levels of damage in all 4 damage types.
Depending on where you are running missions it might not be such an issue though, I mission near Amarr so most of my missions are Sansha, some Blood Raiders. Then the odd few Mercs/Rogue Drones. So I never had too much of an issue being limited to EM/Therm damage with lasers.
Nightmare is ideal in situations like that :D

You'd have to run quite a lot of missions to keep you in plex, but it is definitely doable. Your main issue is that you'll be grinding just to cover game cost and not necessarily having much fun.

90ish million on my main and 20 ish million on my alt here :)

Might resub today and check out OcUK.

:) Maybe see you online later

been about 2 years since i played it

Going to be intresting what to do as a new player again..

Any recommendations if you want to be a good/fighter/non miner ?

Well as my post above it seems you want to be doing missions first. I'm assuming you've been away for 2 years and haven't got many skillpoints.

First off for any person is to get a stable level of income in order to fund whatever habit it is you choose to pursue. So for you i would get into level 4 missions with an agent and salvage those mission wrecks and items to sell off to help you along.

So basically caldari ships, you want kestrel for level 1, caracal level 2, drake level 3 and finally raven for level 4s. Train up standard missiles, heavy missiles and then cruise, get the specialising skills respectively and also all the supporting skills that make missiles hit harder and faster.

This should give you a basic purpose to start off with, then while you're doing that you're also getting the grips with triggers, ship and weapon types, how much tank is needed and will polish up your basic understanding of eve itself as far as shooting things is concerned.

I think eve is a game you need to discover your interests in, we can certainly point you in all kinds of directions to try out to see if that is your forte. But the truth is, everyone gets bored of doing the same things all the time, and missions after awhile will definitely bore you, and that's why people enjoy pvp, it's a rush, it's different, it requires tactics which change given to circumstance.

Also there is a shedload of supplementary skills in setup that you need to forego in order to be successful. We're no experts but hopefully we can help nurture those skills.

So yeah i recommend given your comments on areas of interest, to focus your time and reading up on agent missions.

We'll be in the public ocuk channel to help you along.
