Started playing Dead Space today which I bought during the Steam Xmas sale.

Not happy with the game at all. Feels like its going to be a painful experience playing it through to the end.

Dont like the perspective of the character, the shooting mechanics or the movement.....

Ive also got this installed but havnt managed to start playing it yet, i played it for a few mins on a console a year or so ago and seemed interesting, the gameplays ive seen of it seem good, and it makes people jump a lot!

I didn't think it was too bad, you can always use a controller if M/KB doesn't feel right.

Feels similar to RE5, has more 'scares' though it's not scary by any means.

Disable in game vsync, force it in your gfx card control panel, then ramp up the mouse sensitivity in game for a start.

What Dano said.

There is a ridiculous amount of mouse lag/lack of speed with the in-game vsync on.

It plays a lot better with M+KB to be honest. As slow as it is, having a pad makes it more frustrating in my opinion.

I've been on the fence about it for ages.

Would've got it during the Xmas sale had I saw it, was just too busy buying loads of other games :p

I'll probably get it one of these days.

Couldnt see what all the fuss was about myself, really got on my nerves that the main character made the odd grunt and that was it.

Good game though I did find the middle sections a bit of a drag, I think it just went on too long for me. I gave it a break for a few weeks and then resumed playing it until the end. I found keyboard and mouse fine. A mix of action and horror, neither really dominated for me.

@opeth, I'd defo give it time before you make final decision on it.

Also started this today having bought it in the Steam sale. I've tried changing the settings re X and Y axis in the game options and it's made no difference, and it's annoying the hell out of me. Think it's because I've just finished Batman AA, and it uses the opposite controls for the camera... Bugging me that the option to change is there, but it doesn't work

I just finished Batman as well which wasa great game!

Gave it a quick whirl once, found the camera angle and controls really pathetically bad and never went back. I mean quake did it years ago not like its hard to make a game with a decent camera angle and fluid controls.

Does take an while to adjust to the odd camera angle but u do after a while. Thought it was very good, looking forward to the second one coming out in a couple of weeks.

I found it much better with a 360 pad than KB+M. Whilst everyone was on about mouse lag, etc. I had no troubles as I was playing it with a pad and the game was really designed with a gamepad in mind.

I thought it was an excellent game, very atmospheric and dark and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
