Try uninstalling it in device manager and select the option "Delete the driver software for this device" then when you reboot it should detect the card and install a generic VGA Driver. Then try reinstalling the ATI driver again.

Yep done all that mate, have tried it twice now, it's really odd.

At a loss, the MSI drivers provided are 10.1's, would rather not be forced to use them :(

Ok so I tried the 10.12 display driver ONLY file, still no luck, it's just not being picked up at all and only seems to be picked up with the MSI CD ones.

Screenshots from the 10.12 installation, (1), and screenshot from MSI installation, there is literally no 'display driver' presence there for the downloaded drivers.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Downloaded drivers screeny (10.12);http://img88.imageshack.us/i/installation.png/

MSI Disc drivers (10.1); http://img220.imageshack.us/i/installationmsi.png/

Have tried 10.11 drivers too, same thing as 10.12.

Hi guys

Looking at getting a GX660R but have a few questions.

Will this perform better than my current desktop? (in sig)
Will I be able to hook it up to my 22" 1680x1050 monitor and use that instead of the monitor that comes with it if i prefered?

Thanks!

I think performance will be very similar with this laptop compared to your current desktop and yes you can attach a monitor to it.

Hey, as above in terms of gaming i'd be inclined to say it'd be a similar experience (based on GPU mainly)

And yes, I hook mine upto a 24" 1900x1200 monitor instead of the laptop screen, when I'm at home and it performs fine. Just plug it in and tweak with your display settings and voila :)

Thanks for the replies!

Also, how will this lapotp cope with image/video editing and 3D modelling as this is something else I will need to be doing! I'm guessing it will be better than my desktop?

I am having some problem on driver of graphics.

Anyone else having the problem?

Going to update the drivers. hope it fixes the issue.

Hi, yes.

Please see my above posts, I'm unable to install drivers other than those on the MSI disc, the other drivers do not pick up the 5870M.

According to the AMD website, they do not provide drivers for specific manufacturers laptops containing their cards.

That is a nightmare because the drivers MSI have provided are 10.1's. But other people are able to install 10.12's on the EXACT same laptop, it makes no sense and leads me to beleive something is wrong with my laptop????

This is getting ridiculous, I'd rather send the laptop back to the place I bought it from than be forced to use old drivers.

The drivers that came on my MSI CD were 10.8. I've currently got 10.12 installed after a bit of effort. For some reason the first few attempts at installing them just didn't work, it would say that it installed correctly but the drivers/CCC were unchanged. Few more goes at it and it finally worked.

Maybe the only people who've been able to update the drivers are those who have reinstalled/changed the OS?

I wanna trash my HD it came with. But don't have enough ££ to get new HDD.
Hitachi HD are really slow comparing to 7200 RPM as the time goes on.
I feel like wiping out the everything that came with it And use it without a RAID on.

Sometime, I don't feel like using £950 laptop :(
Learned my lesson!

Hey a lolage. I've sent you a few emails about your questions regarding 3d editing on a gx660 and other stuff but it keeps coming back that your email address is incorrect? if you send me an email via trust I'll give you all my results so far. Been using Bryce, 3dsmax2010 etc.

Can anyone reccomend a good SSD which will fit? Will be looking to go for something around 60gb -100GB.

Also, can i switch off RAID0 without having to format everything? If this is the case, how do I turn off RAID?

Had no idea the machine (or any laptop for that matter) was as customisable as this, it's all very exciting :)

I use an OCZ vertex SSD and it runs lovely in this laptop.

You cannot just turn off raid without formatting unfortunately. You will need to do a fresh install.

What steps do I need to take to turn off raid and remove one HDD?

Sorry for silly questions, i'm a newbie to laptop + raid customisation

It that the issue where it cant find a bootable media or some crap? I get that from time to time. Think its to do with having the lan option in the boot list. I tried removing it and saving but it just comes back next boot.

If the 'error' relates too the brief interruption during boot-up that reads something like 'Realtek PCI Express Ethernet Gigabyte Controller v 2.75' its due to MSI deploying the OS via the network. If you go into the BIOS and change the boot options to HD first DVD second and finally USB third etc then Null or Void the other options the 'error' goes away as the OS is no longer looking for the adaptor in question.

Alternatively, you could connect the laptop to a router via a cable and the Realtek driver will be replaced with whatever generic driver it locates and probably won't send the error again.

Also, for those who have no experience of RAID options there some mention in the Instruction Manual relating to how its all set-up. You'll find the manual on your desktop in a folder called: 'User Manual'.
