Dead Space 2 .

I have Dead Space 2 already, got it early for review. Can't say much as I'm under an embargo, but can say the game is awesome. Anyone who enjoyed the first game will love the sequel. Will beat the story tomorrow and see if I can find any other journo's online for some MP action. Oh, if anyone is wondering, you should start seeing online reviews from the 25th, that's when the embargo lifts, at least for me and most other websites I know.

Saw you playing it, not worried about the Sp being good. Just want to know how bad the MP sucks because it looks **** :D

Can't wait. Tempted to hold off buying because games drop so fast and It looks like a SP only game for me.

What difficulty are you on?

Playing it on Normal to start, will try one of the harder difficulties after beating it. No stupidly hard bits so far, some sections have taken a couple of attempts, but nothing that makes me feel like ripping (what's left of) my hair out.

Have to say though, it's graphically stunning, one of the best looking games I think I've ever played.

I am quite proud of myself by not watching 1 single video or reading 1 single article on Dead Space 2. I want to go into it knowing nothing. Dead Space is probably my third favorite gaming franchise behind MGS and the Resi games(older ones).

wait, I did watch the debut trailer but that seems like it was years ago and I've forgot about it.

Not sure to get this on the PS3 or PC. I play the first one on the PS3 and would feel weird playing the second one with a 360 pad on my pc. hmm, graphics or controller. hmm... Any working PS3 DS3 software for w7 64bit yet?

Hated the first game,, played the demo of the upcoming second, still nah for me, killing waves of monsters doesnt do it for me, im really beginning to hate games that put you in enclosed spaces and throw waves of enemies at you, seems rather cheap and old hat now.

I think the limb dismemberment is what makes this game so different. Carefully aiming at their legs to slow them down then going for a headshot felt so satisfying. I played most the game with the first mining tool you get. Didn't bother with the pulse rifle at all.

Think I'll replay the first one. Hope I still have my save data. :(

Feel like I'm in two minds about this...

The first one had some really great things about it. For one, it easily had the best sound design I've ever seen in a game, sets the atmosphere perfectly. The start was also brilliant when you have no weapon and you just have to run for it!

What I didn't like was the fact that your character didn't speak and basically you just had characters who talked at you and told you what to do the whole time, while they sat about doing nothing. That spoiled it for me, a bit like the Rookie in Halo ODST... though it sounds like they have changed that.

It also started to feel a bit too repetitive, for example...

"The Life Support is Offline, Issac you need to fix it!"

"Issac, that's great that you got Life Support back on, but the engines are offline!"

"Issac, the engines are back online, but there is a fuel leak you need to fix!"

*Yawn*

Also, while it is a game that does make you jump at times, you get to the stage where you know that when you walk into an empty room, something is either going to come from behind you, or once you've done something in the room they will then all come at you.

I really hope they have worked on these issues.
As for the multiplayer it seems to have a real L4D feel, so will be interesting to see how it works out.

lol but thats why you were sent to the ship in the first place, to fix it.

:p

The ripper was my favourite weapon - sawing the limbs off with a screeching sound, a bit like a dentist's drill, when you hit bone. :D

The Pulse Rifle was a really useful weapon in DS2 for me, always kept it with me as a fallback weapon. It was never the best weapon to use against most enemies, but really handy to keep around as I always tended to have plenty of ammo. It is actually the best weapon in some situations as well.

Looking forward to this game, loved the first, I heard that your fully upgraded plamsa cutter from DS1 carries over, is that correct? Also surprsied that the 360 version is on 2 disks though, guess that means it will use the same uncompressed audio as the PS3 version. Anyone read any impressions of DS extraction for the PS3?: Liked to know how well it plays with move and DS3.

All I heard is that if you have a Dead Space 1 save game, you'll get the plasma cutter to use in DS2. Whether it's a basic one or an upgraded one, I don't know.

Are they still using nodes and workbenches to upgrade weaponry in DS2?

The Plasma Cutter was my favourite weapon in the first one, just playing it through again on the PS3 atm after my first completion was on the 360. I never realised how good the graphics were either, great looking game imo. :)

Did he say church of scientology on the developers commentary right hand video? lol j/k although it does sound a bit like he does lol

I thought they got the upgrade balance about right, if you were careful and conservative with ammo, which you could do even on insane you could buy plenty more nodes

Yep. It's supposed to work much better. I just hope you don't need to collect as many nodes this time as it was quite silly how many you needed in the first game.
