Poetry: The Door Closes

Hey, a certain Austrian bloke can't have been a bad guy, right? He just aired his views, and lots of people were silly enough to listen and start killing people... (sorry for invoking Godwin's...)

He was also charged with with three counts of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

Is there any victimless crime that hasn't been thought of by the government?

I know you may have had a special bond spending all your time with this guy, but he is wrong. He has tried to incite murder. This is something that cannot be justified by "religious views" this is pure, unadulterated evil.

He deserves to be put in prison for a very long time.

Oh and the poem is pathetic.

I was expecting some poetry and all I got was some garbage from a coward done of inciting murder and terrorist offences. Hopefully he’ll be able to improve his writing skills if he gets banged up.

I am reassured that someone other than myself thinks this chap is a coward. Seems a lot of people defending him as some kind of 'rebel general'.

There is no place here for someone like your cellmate, I hope he remains locked up.

(Though I have a suspicion the OP is a troll)

The author of this poem is not allowed to post this due to the nature of his charges as they are for religious reasons. He gave it to me on my release to show the world. May god make his time in prison easy for he is innocent of crime and has never hurt anyone.

Do we take it from this that he's not allowed access to a computer in case he posts other material that classes as incitement to murder or otherwise inflammatory materials? If that's the case then should you really be posting this for him (and crediting him with it giving full details)? If the CPS were to find out that he is finding other means to break the restrictions upon him then that's probably not going to be viewed in a positive light...

Whilst I don't think the sentencing is correct (I reckon the OP/his pal have got confused somewhere), I agree with the OP in that I think it is absurd that some one can be potentially locked up for this amount of time for doing what he has done. The crime really is nonsense and is a smack in the face of the idea behind right to feel speech. I would follow the American lead and rule on each case with respect to its probable danger of occurrence rather than just having a blanket rule that 'incitement' is illegal full stop.

It's not a smack in the face for the idea of free speech - free speech has never been entirely free as there are bigger potential problems to society here. "Falsely shouting fire in a crowded theatre" (thanks Oliver Wendell-Holmes) would not be protected by freedom of speech in America so I can't agree that there can or should be no restrictions on free speech. However the biggest point of all is that freedom to speak does not entail freedom from consequence. You can say something but don't be surprised if it returns to give you problems.

Naive? lol. ok.
Well anyway, i can't remember the charge exactly so i wont try to make something up. The reason he was given 6 years was for A) He was scared and fled from the scene and tried to hide and 2) He was turkish and the guy who was hit was a respected white guy (Those were his solicitors own words)

I'd suspect there's a little bit too it that you've either missed or forgotten but fleeing from the scene of a crime and hiding (while it may in some ways be understandable) is a crime. As for harsher sentences because he was Turkish, possible but doubtful and with the best will in the World his solicitors are hardly likely to be commenting from an unbiased position.

Rostam.

I know Bilal and he is an utter little ****, where he grew up there is a huge monstrosity of a Mosque that has ruined the area, you can see it from miles around.

I know his cousins quite well and most of his own family have shunned him for the crap he was coming out with.

Deserves everything if you ask me.

He is not a coward for writing his views, he is one for asking others to do what he would not do himself.

The irony of that is the fact that the person or persons who radicalised him were also asking someone else to do something they are not prepared to do themselves.

Well, **** just got real as the kids say

Do the kids even say this any more? I find it very hard to keep up, what with their hippity hop and their i-boxes and such

By 'our brothers' and 'our people' he refers to all innocent people in warzones being oppressed. Furthermore, he is in prison ONLY for using a pen.. or keyboard more correctly as he now faces 9 charges of terrorism due to typing his opinions on forums and downloading religious articles (where i might add are published in the UK) He's never hurt nor ever wished to hurt anyone.. only expressed his freedom of speech.

So from the OP it sounds like this Bilal character has been prohibited from making internet posts whilst on remand, and you have knowingly assisted him to do so. Smart
