the 560 SOC easily stomps on a 480GTX....look at the reviews... plus you have £20 spare which will buy you a nice Chinese meal on Friday night :p

Going to have to pull you up on that comment, below 560 is at 950 core so clocked 50Mhz slower than the soc, I would hardly call it stomping all over the 570 which is 480 performance.

Benchmarks I repeat do not show the increased limitation of the 1 GB ram buffer, even 1.3 GB of the 570 is not enough in some titles at 1920x1200 and when that happens you can’t play the game, it is not micro-stuttering, it is just unplayable. It is hardly going to get better with Crysis 2 and the other games coming this year, is it?
 
I love how quiet and low the temps are but the performance seems lower than a 6950 from the two reviewers I checked (toms hardware and Anandtech) and with apparent bandwidth limitations at times. Still this is just me talking from my current 460 (depends what cards you have where you'd want to upgrade to of course). Still good cards, could do with being just slightly cheaper (same with 6950 though).

Bit of a flaw in your reasoning there. For example, on one monitor, you need enough memory for the framebuffer and all the game's textures. Add another monitor, and you only need enough extra ram for the second monitor's framebuffer. It's not like SLI where the textures would be doubled up.

Was feeling a little gutted when reviews first appeared and that maybe I should have waited for this instead of upgrading to the GTX470 a month or so ago. Oh well a £165 + Mafia 2 isn't too bad for a 470! I'll get over it!:(

GTX 470 should be an easy sell at £150!

If you paid £165 for it with mafia, then I'd suggest selling it for £150 and buying a GTX 560.

I think a heavily overclocked gtx470 will be faster than a heavily overclocked gtx560 plus the gtx470 has more memory. The gtx470 at £165 is one of the best deals i have seen.

Why would he need to though bhavv? when you consider my point above. He will gain a cooler card and use a little less power. He will also have to spend £50 to get no extra performance if his gtx470 is a good overclocker like most seem to be.

The gtx470 usually overclocks to 800-850 on average which is around 33-41% with some going even higher. Compare that with the gtx560 which from reviews seems to be managing around 25%. It will probably manage a bit more but i can't see it matching the gtx470 in this area.

Any idea on what the SOC version would be like in SLi, when compared to say, a GTX 580 on its own? A friend of mine is looking for a new card and wants best bang for buck. Obviously its not going to match the 580 but how far away exactly would they be?

Judging from the reviews, do you guys think it is fair for me to say:

GTX560=5870 speed at stock+overclock capability of the GTX470-the high power consumption and heat of the GTX470? :D

haha yeah i paid £240 for mine + £35 for the VF3000F + £24 (£12 per fan) for two Noctua NF-B9's

Agreed my 955BE @ 4.2ghz cant max out my 470 in games. Depending on bulldozer's performance price ratio il decide intel vs amd in april onwards or whenever amd get around to releasing it (they said Q4 2010 initally).
