MSI 4800 Series fried... Bought MSI HD 5850 Twin FrozR and major issues.....

Yea I think I will do that overslop, anyone have any recommendations for the system such as mine? (see above img)

Seeing as my old one is only a year old, is that covered by OC returns?

Tried Crisis Warhead on 1600x 1050, high settings, was about 35 fps, long load times and bad screen tearing. Vsync dropped it down to about 20 fps.
I put this poor performance down to low ram?

35fps average is about right for a 5850 in Crysis. Especially if your cpu is at stock speeds.

Will also depends on resolution you play at & whether AA was enabled or not.

Screen tearing will happen when your fps is below 60. Nothing to do with a lack of ram.

And you don't want vsync on unless you're getting 60fps+ constantly. The minute you drop below 60fps with vsync enabled, the fps will half.

What's confusing me is that Windows is showing the 4gb available in the screenshot you posted, so where is it saying 4gb ram (2gb useable) ? In the Bios ?

What does Task Manager show in the' Physical Memory ' box when you open it & click the Performance tab ?

As we think it's an issue with your Gigabyte motherboard:

Don't know what OCUK returns are like, maybe under a year they will deal with it - but by all accounts Gigabyte good for UK RMA. I'd second the get a new board, see if it helps and if it does RMA the old one suggestion. You should be able to recover most of the cost via the Bay.

Its saying 4 gig 2 gig usable in the properties of "my computer" and before I used the new gfx card, I was getting a 7.7 in the Ram ratings and 5.5 now.
