January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

doubt it, re Adam, but you never know

Thought Raf was covering for someone moving infield as it were for 2nd goal, Raf is pretty short to cover the post

I doubt it too but it's the second time I've seen Fergie praising him, in fact in another ESPN interview he actually went as far as saying Adam is one of the best players in the league

As for Rafa he does get the post duty as does Evra, remember King's goal against us last season? That was due to Rafa coming off of the post as well.

First half he was very impressive, 2nd half he was useless though.

The transfer fee will be influenced by Blackpool's financial situation also though. They're far from a rich club and Adam's only got 18 months left on his deal, can they afford to turn down a ~£6m bid if it came their way?

It depends if they think he could be the difference between staying up or relegation. Would they get much less for him if they sold him in the summer?

Agree regarding relegation. And I'd imagine they would get a fair bit less for him in the summer (a fair bit to them anyway). Lets not get ahead of ourselves, he's a reasonable player but even had he had 3 years on his deal and Blackpool had been a bigger club, he's not worth much than £7-8m. With a year on his deal and clubs knowing Blackpool have to sell, they'd be lucky to get £3m I'd guess, especially if Adam has a 'prefered club' that he wants to join.

how much would it cost in replacement value - certainly more than £3-4m I would guess during the summer, during the season £8m would be a decent /fair amount for both sides (although the gamble could cost Blackpool a lot more if they are relegated......all ifs buts and maybes though as no-one would ever know if CA would have saved them or not)

That's the question isn't it?

If staying up is worth £20million to a club (TV rights, gate receipts, Shirts sales etc), then selling him for £6million now instead of £3million in the summer is really shortsighted.

That's if you assume that he's the difference between them staying up and being relegated.

Lets not kid ourselves, we all know why Holloway's banging on about Adam in the press and confirming all these bids. Blackpool are open to selling Adam and want to create an auction. That would suggest they feel they can survive without him and/or improve their squad if they got a reasonable bid for him.

Well yeah but they've just got Ruud and Adebayor in.

I thought the Ruud thing was a no go at the moment, meaning they've got Adebayor, and thats assuming he passes the medical, then Benzema. I think Mourinho was unhappy in summer with Higauin and Benzema, insisting he needed another player, so I doubt he'd get one striker in and let one go.

He hates Benzema though, he's been utter rubbish, and not really sure why Spurs would get him, after a big money move to Real he'll be on a huge salary, one they can't match(or shouldn't) and frankly he's been so poor they could be getting a crap striker.

Better options who'll want less wages, they could even, insanely, start playing Pav more often :o

Footie 365
Over the last 38 PL games, Tottenham's strikers have scored 19 goals. Ten of those were scored by Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Pav 5 goals 801 minutes in the league.

Crouch 1 goal 1315 minutes

Defoe 0 goals, 500 ish mins,

Keane 0 goals 226 minutes.

Why Pav hasn't started more games I don't know, he's miles and miles ahead of Crouch, Keane with some actual games, consistancy and being played upfront might even score a bit, not even 3 games, spread across a load of performances and does he still get played on the wing more than upfront?
Spurs have better options at their own club. Benzema would be an insane risk to bring in, he's got to be on over 100k a week, why would Spurs pay that for someone whose been crap for 18 months.

Crouch should be shipped out. His only use is maybe as an "impact" sub, just a way of changing it up. When Crouch is on, all we seem to do is pump it up to him as its the easy ball, plus he can't hit a barn door.

If we could get half decent money for him we should sell.

The thing is Harry always plays his favourites, and wouldn't want to sell Crouch, wouldn't surprise me if his two dogs are called Peter and Jermaine.
