Vasectomy

Can't say personally although my dad has had one. He said the aftermath of the op was the most painful thing he's experienced. Extremely sore, couldn't stand anything touching it for a week and was off work for 2 weeks. This was about 20 years ago though so I imagine things are somewhat different now.

Immediately winced then burst out laughing after seeing this ! :D

Did you not tell them to stop? Or did you go all alpha male and keep schtum?

Well, little bit alpha I suppose, and part of me stupidly thinking "they know what they're doing". Also to be honest they make a tiny incision, which didn't hurt anymore than an injection - it's only when they winch out your vas deferens that it feels like a train going through your groin. Little late to ask them to "pop it back in" by that stage.

Did tell them just before they started the second, and they said it should be fine. Was waaay more nervous for start of the second one, knowing what was coming, but didn't feel a thing.

I had mine ( both tubes ) snipped 10 years ago after the birth of my second child, i was 30 at the time.

Had mine done under a local anesthetic and was at the time more worried more about ebarressing myself should a good looking nurse be helping with the proceedure( I am sure you can work out what was on my mind ) , needed have not worried in all honesty as she was a very large African lady .

The proceedure was a little uncomfortable in as much the injection into my scrotum for the local was very painful so with that in mind I would recomend that you have it done under a general anesthetic.

As far as post op was concerend I felt that my ball baggs were as big as grapefruits and walked like John Wayne for a few weeks but eveything else just worked fine.

You shold have seen me drop of my two sperm samples in test tubes at the hospital , at the time i was riding a motorcycle and the crash helmet never came of nor did the black visor come up .

So 10 years on is all ok , yes all is well . He still stands to attention when i ned him to but more importantly something else I have discovered about being seedless in your 30'S -40'S. When I was 32 I am now 41 I got divorced ( nothing to do with my seedless status ) and found myself in the big wide world of singledom again , meeting single women who are in there 30's and 40'S that have kids they absolutley love a seedless man ( oh and there sisters as well ).

I have two varicose veins kicking around down their which can cause enough discomfort, so I think I'll be saying no thank you to ever having anything like this done.

I'm considering getting this done in the next year or so. Bit of a psychological barrier about it though for obvious reasons.

I've wanted to do this for a while but I never thought the NHS would do them for free for guys in their 20's. I may have to speak to my doctor.

could you have some of your juice frozen just in case?

That shouldn't be needed. Afterwards, you should still be making viable sperm. They can be extracted with a syringe, which is a lot less horrendous in practice than it sounds. So you can go through the IVF route without having to keep semen from before.

You can't have it done on the NHS if you're childless. My brother in law was refused a referal by his doctor because he was under 25 and he had 5 kids! He appealed it and got it done in the end though.

Not true - after 5 years'ish your body will develop sperm antibodies - sperm will be attacked and killed at the point of production.

Taking a sample and freezing pre-op is sometimes done (I was asked but I said on your bike!).

I have been thinking about having this done, we have 2 kids already and i honestly dont want anymore, so this seems like the logical step.

A friend of mine had it done a couple of weeks ago and said there was nothing to it, said it would have been worse if you have big massive balls but if you have the smaller variety then you should be ok.

Never realised that if you dont have nay children then they will most likely turn you down for this. Was going to get one done before i came away on this deployment and am still planning on getting one done when i get back. Amin my second marriage and both me and Mrs S do not want any children.....ever

Hopefully it will go through when i get back with no worries or issues too

Lucky you.. I've split with a few gfs in the past where they've put me on the spot about kids after changing from "undecided" to "definitely want sprogs". I'm still struglling to find a woman in the tiny minority that doesn't want children... :(

I had mine done about 18 months ago and it was fine. Worst thing for me was the bloody injection! Once it was all numb I couldn't feel a thing although you can feel the doctor tugging at the tubes. Oh, and there's also the burning smell when they are being cauterised. Took a couple of days for the selling to go down but was back to normal in no time. Just have to provide a couple of samples to get the all clear. At the end of the day you can still blat yer fat :)

I think it might not be as clear-cut as that - from what I've read your testicles are somewhat isolated from your immune system, which is why you don't develop sperm antibodies normally.

They are separated by the Blood–testis barrier, which a vasectomy damages.

Just got back from having it done - no bother at all.

Small injection into the tube on one side, slight sting - less than a dentist injection, small cut, a little bit of pulling at the tube to get it out - felt uncomfortable rather than painful, cut a section out of it - didn't hurt at all, burnt the ends with an electrical thingy, tied the ends - again just uncomfortable then stitched up the tiny hole in the sack then onto the left one.

All done and dusted in 10 mins.

Sat at home waiting for a Chinese to be delivered and watching a film - wife doesn't know it didn't hurt - gonna milk it for as long as poss!

Just waiting for the anaesthetic to wear off!
