January Transfer Window 2010/2011 Season Rumours/Signings

Unconfirmed reports that Liverpool are looking to bring the world's most destructive midfielder™ Sissoko back to Anfield in a deal worth over £70m....

;)

Yeah but Chelsea don't have many fans so that won't translate that well.

Unless you look at the big picture .

Torres can make a team a fair amount of money, considering he sells the most shirts in the Premier League, etc...

Maybe, but how many shirt sales total were there for Liverpool vs other clubs.

Considering the club has been widely regarded as a 3 man team for years, its not particularly surprising that the vast majority pick Gerrard or Torres.

Barca probably sell more shirts, maybe 5 times as many, but Barca/spain fans pick, Puyol, Alves, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Villa, Pedro, Busquets, etc, etc, etc. I'm not being overly argumentative, or having a pop at Liverpool, I honestly wonder if Torres/Gerrard sales would really make that big a difference in shirt sales. For instance if Torres leaves, will Liverpool sell almost exactly the same number of shirts, just with different ratio's of names on them?

As for Meireles, he's becoming very good, Liverpool fans seem to just throw hate at anything with Hodgson "taint" on it. He didn't really shine till more recently, but his form was picking up before Kenny, though the rest of the team being a bit better, and the right games in a row all helped aswell. He's been man of the match for a few games now pretty much. He had his fare share of epically useless games early season, but then so did the whole team.

4-5 games playing very well is also FAR to short to suggest he'll maintain similar form in the next 5, 10 or 50 games, but if he does he'd be the best buy Liverpool had made in ages.

I don't think he's a "highlights" player either, as his highlights were rubbish early season aswell.

Some players take very little time to adapt to the league, some take longer, though realistically the adapting to the league is complete nonsense. Its adapting to the PLAYERS you play with. Being a brilliant player gets you so far, knowing where the striker ahead of you likes to run, and that striker knowing how and when you're going to pass makes the world of difference.

Modric for the first two months vs Modric now, etc, etc.

Anyone happen to watch Moyes on SSN just now? No Sky for me, so didn't see it but basically he's just said that we will not be bringing anyone in...brilliant. Something is defiantly not right at the club.

That's Balague though, a man with a proven track record of getting things all wrong, he is the only person saying that Torres is asking the bid to be considered. No other specialist football correspondent is saying it, that alone should tell you that its probably not likely. Balague apparently , somehow, also claims to know the details of Torres contract. Something which again nobody else claims to know. Several times in the past Balague has claimed to "know" things about transfers and has been proven to all be hokum.

I take anything that Balague says with a stadium full of salt.

Liverpool would be crazy to sell to be honest, it would make absolutely no sense. Relying on David N'gog and Kuyt to bag you goals makes no sense

Whilst all true I would have expected the club to have put their fans minds at ease by denying it by now - which they haven't

Dont get me wrong I dont see him leaving in this transfer window but it will be interesting to see if a bidding war starts if it is true

Even if he wanted to go, I would refuse to sell. Instead I would sit down with him, explain to him that he has a duty and that he will not be sold in January. That his job is to help push Liverpool back up the table and help get the club back into Europe this season. Once the season is over and the club is back in Europe, IF he still wants to leave then he can, but only to a foreign side.

Konchesky deal back to Fulham won't be happening before the window apparently. Also denied interest in Kranjcar and the SWP deal is near enough off. Boo :(

With only 3 days left of the transfer window it looks like my earlier prediction that Liverpool would have a little flurry of transfer activity at the end of the window might come true.

If Chelsea up their offer quite a bit more, Liverpool will have to sell him, they can't resist ALL offers.

Added to the fact they could pay a bit more for Suarez then, he's not Torres but he'll probably end up playing more games due to fitness.

Torres + Drogba, ugh :(

This is assuming they ever planned to buy him in the first place, and it wasn't a deliberately low offer to make it look like they're still bidding for top talent without actually having to buy them. Guess we won't have long to find out, but it's not looking promising the way the Luiz deal seems to have gone.
