The *Official* Eve Online Thread

So it won't affect the cusotmisation options?

Also how often do you see your character, the customisation options are unbelievable :|

Thanks for speedy reply btw.

EDIT:Holy **** this game is good looking

Unfortunately you don't get to see your character till later on this year when Incarna comes out (legend has it).

And yes there is an ocuk new player corp to help newcomers to the game, just join the ocuk public channel or send Dagejoor an email through eve.

Say hi to us on our forum http://www.oc-ps.co.uk you'll need your limited api key ready which is available from the EVE website in the "My Character" page.

I chose Caldari a long time ago because after reading the back story it sounded cool, high tech militaristic corporation led, in my eyes it was like the Aliens universe, where you had ultra powerful corporations like Weyland-Yutani etc. :)

Yeah i picked my character purely based on back story as i had no idea what the attribute points affected at the time. Kind of liked the idea of being the underdog rather than what ships i could fly.

Also at the time, in order to do well in minmatar ships you pretty much needed every skill under the sun to come up on par with the other races on effectiveness, and strangely enough, i kind of liked that?

So yeah minmatar are the slave race of eve, traded all over the universe for hard labour or pleasure, though I'm not too sure what that says about me.

Yeah I thought that too. Then I discovered that you actually had to pay for ammo, while Amarr got to use cool lasers that recharged for free. So I started a new Amarr char. If I was starting now, knowing what I now know, I'd go with Caldari for pretty much any kind of PvE, Minmatar for solo PvP, Amarr for nullsec blob warfare. For industry it really doesn't matter too much anymore, although Gallente have the biggest Tech 1 hauler iirc? Those might not be the best choices necessarily, but what I'd do personally.

Can you use drones? I guess you could stick a MWD + Overdrive on an incursus - hope the rifters use the lows for tank/gyros and stay out at disruptor range letting drones (or drone) and rails (might not track well enough but if they are silly enough to try and burn straight towards you won't be an issue) do the work. That might not work so well against other frigs tho and rifters might kill your drone dropping dps a lot and theres the risk the rifter pilots might be able to get the edge overheating.

Or you could try a tracking disruptor w/ optimal range script and staying at 4-5km... all in all gonna need a lot more experience than I have at frig warfare tho to field gallente against rifters.

Yes, T1 everything including drones, just no faction/T2 stuff

I'm thinking of purchasing eve, what's the learning curve like?

To be fair your asking if Eve is a good game in the Eve thread - yeh its good!

Learning curve isn't really too bad either so long as you follow tutorials and are happy to do some reading in your own time.

PvP is great fun, real risk involved (if you die your ship won't respawn somewhere) which makes it rewarding when you win fights :)

Alright time for a question list if some of you don't mind as you're all a helpful bunch on this forum

1. Should i continue to just follow the military tutorials for now after doing the basic ones, before going into others, basically the career agents section?

2. I keep leaving skills to train every time i log out, but what do these skills do and what exactly will i be using my money for, ship upgrades or buying completely new ships?

3. Could someone explain how i would go around getting into the OCUK corp, asked before but kind of need a detailed explanation as iam slow as a snail.

That reminds me, after I got done with my first mil. agent, I didn't go to my second. The name was in a message, but I didn't click it & I have no idea what the name was. They do say millitary tutorial by the agent right.

I just click the help button then show agent things at bottom for career agents.

I still think its funny how that picture gets chucked up even though its from the second genesis!

In the chat box in the lower left click the little speech bubble then type OCUK in the join channel box and join the channel and then if i'm about "Dagejoor" or "Naomi Diaz" talk to me
and i'll go through what i need from you before you can join
