*** 25/02/2011 EXTENSION! *** DEAL OF CENTURY: Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB Graphics Card with 2 FREE

Ordered two of these to replace my GTX460s. Should see a decent improvement for 3D Vision titles, and will hopefully get a decent amount for selling the 460 pair.

I've got a 560 soc on pre-order for my lad which looks like it has been delayed again till mid-feb, tempted to get one of these now, but he's only running a Corsair CX600w PSU - is this enough? Other specs include i3 540 @ 4.0Ghz, 4GB 1600Mhz RAM, 2x Samsung 500GB F3's, Nvidia 8800 GTX.

Having read all of the thread I'm still in two minds.

I've got the cash together for a new rig (2600K,P67,SSD etc) which will be water cooled.

Was looking at either 2x 560's or 2x 6950 (flashed) for graphics as they will be powering a 30" monitor.

The big question is do I get 2x 480's instead given that they will be water cooled so whichever card I go for I'll be buying blocks for anyway ?

What is your guys status set to? Mine now says: "Order Status: In our warehouse queue". Does that mean I got through security validation, as that was what it last said but I got no confirmation email...

For anyone wondering, I fitted the Accelero Xtreme Plus to my Inno 3D 480 and now it runs quite happily at 850 core/2000 mem @ 1.088v (was 0.987 ?? before). A lot quieter also.

No warranty now tho. Can't believe the price of this, I paid twice that back in May.

Mine's sat at the same status, having previously been "security validation"

It's not just that previous review that mentions the temperature improvement that the updated BIOS brings, take a look here.

Wow, looking at that above link, at max load the 480 GTX is about 46dBA? People are saying this is loud? I already have a Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000, which runs on my CPU at 100% all the time, this pumps out 45.9dBA already, sitting next to it, it's not even an issue, doesn't even sound that loud, half the time I don't even notice it.

When people said the 480 GTX was loud, I thought it would actually be loud, but it'll be exactly the same to me as what I already have.

When are we expecting these to be in stock?
Just spoke to someone at overclockers and they said that the 4th was just the date where the price stops being offered......

It's all in the first post! Stock arriving late this week and they'll honor the price until Friday.

I give up! It seems every two minutes I read a different description of the noise level of the 480. It's like a vacuum cleaner or a hairdryer or a jet enging according to some. It's no louder than most other gfx cards, not an issue at all, or on a par with a normal CPU fan according to others.

The new BIOS either makes the card cooler and draws less power, or it makes no difference and it's all down to the case you use.

I can't take any more!

I would pre-order one of these if I could be confident that:
a) it would be quiet enough not to disturb my work in the daytime at idle but likely not clocked all the way down (due to two monitors)
b) when gaming it would not disturb my wife who will sometimes be working at her desk about 2.5 metres away from my PC.

But... one minute it seems both those criteria are going to be okay with the 480, the next it seems I'd find it unacceptable.

I feel like I'm going slightly mad :)

I'm in a similar boat but I've took a punt that it will be fine.....

I'm even think about another but I'm running a Corsair TX750 PSU so I don't know if I've got enough power....
