WD HD TV Live firmware update

Valve90210, the Video Camera was part of the pyschoTHC theme package I referenced in the guide. Version 2.0.0 will allow you to choose your own themes. Currently you can't change the menu icons with MovieSheets+, only the background and screen saver.

Glad you like it and Merry Christmas!

I see, well I can live with it..lol Been using my live with your mod for the last few days and really think moviesheets + is brilliant, great work!

General announcement that version 1.0.1 of MovieSheets+ is now available. This is a maintenance release that addresses a few navigation issues reported.

Yes, use thumbgen to create sheets for all your movies (movies need to each be in there own folder). Templates are included with the plugin.

I think thumbgen now does tv shows but I've not sued it for this so not 100% sure.

I hadn't used Thmbgen for a while and was very pleased to see the newest version does loads of stuff automatically, which is brilliant, didn't take me too long to get my entire collection done, and the moviesheets + plug in is brilliant!!!

ThumbGen supports pulling TV show episode info, such as air date, episode info, episode season and #, etc.

Note that the GEN 2 version is a much lighter version than the Live, and does not include a plugin (plugin funtionality is not offered on the GEN 2 by the custom firmware).

I have included TV show templates I used in the video samples in both the Live and Gen 2 downloads.

General announcement that MovieSheets+ Live version 1.0.2 is now available. Release includes an OSD and APP BIN choice. APP BIN is much smaller and can be used with other OSD themes.
A few other minor enhancements based on requests.

Just a bump with regards to the Gen 2, it does seem as if WD has stopped releasing updates for this model which is infuriating!

Does the OP know if here are compatible firmwares with the Gen 2 for movie sheets, most info I find is always for the Live!

+1

I for one will not buy another WD product again, i recommended the WDTV (Gen 2) to my dad, and now it won’t play new .mkv files (with the header issue) and WD will not provide a simple firmware update, this is to force people to buy the newer Live version…disgraceful behaviour from a big company.
I’ll be recommending the Ryan HD mini HD from now on.
(mini-rant over)

Hence a lot of people using custom firmware on the WDTVs!!

News! - Sneak-peek of version 2.0.0 is now available here! Demo includes:
•Animated backgrounds & sheets
•Customizable Screen Savers
•Auto-trailer feature which plays the trailer embedded into a movie sheet

Might be a daft question (as from your response i assume it does), but does the custom firmware allow the playback of .mkv. made with the 'new' headers?

Thanks

Erm... I'm not actually sure, I've never come across the problem...

That said, I think that was a problem introduced (along with various others) in the latest official firmware, the custom firmware is based on an earlier release so as far as I remember doesn't suffer with these problems.

Best place to check is: http://forum.wdlxtv.com which is the forum for the customfirmware.

That looks amazing, you've really have done wonders with this device!! I look forward to giving it a try! (I still haven't had chance to upgrade from the first release but I love it!)

I'll check thanks, the problem is well documented for WDTV Gen2

".mkv files (made with newer mkvtoolnix versions), which can't be played because the compression (compressed header) is now ON by default in mkvtoolnix."

Cheers

I had the MKV header issue and I'm on CFW but I have a work around.

Try this!

Download this and install

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_video/video_editing/mkvtoolnix.cfm/v4_1_1

Create a new folder and call it anything.

Create a bat file in the folder and add in this text

REM Whipped up by TEKNO to fix MKV header compression issues on Standalone media players!
REM fixMKV version 1.2
REM Requires MKVToolnix v4.1.1 INSTALLED (it auto detects where)
@Echo OFF
cd "%~dp0"
SET KEY="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\mmg.exe"
FOR /F "tokens=2*" %%A IN ('REG QUERY %KEY%') DO SET MKVTOOLPATH=%%B
ECHO MKVToolnix found at %MKVTOOLPATH% > logging.txt
FOR /F "delims=*" %%A IN ('dir /b /s *.MKV') do CALL :MKVFIXMUX "%%A" "%MKVTOOLPATH%"
START "" logging.txt
GOTO :eof
:MKVFIXMUX
"mkvmerge.exe" -o "%~dpn1_fix.mkv" --engage keep_bitstream_ar_info -A -S --compression -1:none "%~dpnx1" -D -S --compression -1:none "%~dpnx1" -A -D --compression -1:none "%~dpnx1"
if not errorlevel 0 (
ECHO Failed on %~nx1 remux! >> logging.txt
goto :eof)
REM if exist "%~dpn1_fix.mkv" (
REM del "%~dpnx1")
ECHO Processing of %~nx1 successful! >> logging.txt
goto :eof

Save the file and put the MKV in the folder you're having trouble with. Run the Bat file and a new MKV will be created with fix at the end. Your new file should now work.
