eBay Rant - Feedback

Some people are just idiots. A person won an auction for some RAM I was selling on ebay but the next day he decided it was the wrong type for his laptop (he hadn't paid for it) so I agreed to cancel the transaction and relist it. He left me a neutral saying "transaction cancelled".

As before buyers wouldn't normally leave sellers a negative rating because the seller would then give them a negative out of spite.

But it works both ways. Also, what if you get some arrogant, **** of a buyer who keeps messing you about? Due to the lack of not being able to leave negative feedback he/she could go and do the exact same thing that happened to you but with a different seller.

Only ever had 1 negative feedback. Sold an Apple computer and the guy who won had zero feedback and I never heard a word from him after he won it. Gave it 2 weeks and sold it to somebody else through a local ad. Two weeks later the original guys leaves negative feedback saying I sold it "under his nose" after he won. Upon further questioning, turns out he had gone on holiday straight after winning and didn't think to tell me

Well the feedback he left me was

"damaged item but refunded"

My reply was "I gave you a full refund for the item, I also did not ask for it to be returned" (As it was clearly damaged in transit)

This was done promptly

Never write that in your feedback...

Also you sold the guy an item. You are responsible for using a reputable delivery service. Harsh negative but understandable.

A seller cannot leave negative feedback.

People do not judge a seller by one feedback alone.
I think this is true, but if you don't have much feedback then it can drag your percentage down quite a bit. Luckily I haven't had any negative feedback, but I'd still be disappointed if did get some and I felt it wasn't justified.

thats something thats always puzzled me, if a buyer pays up straight away whats left for the seller to comment on ... the seller should be forced to leave feedback as soon as the item has been paid for ensuring that can't happen making it a lot more civilised, i reckon that would cut the amount of con jobs you can get on ebay down a lot.... i can't think of any ideas to help sort the issues that sellers can have though...

also, speaking of ebay i bet a lot of Gcards will be going on ebay in this week and next week especially as gibbo posted the amazing deal on the nvidia Gcard that comes with 2 free games (offer closing friday)

haha a little disapointed??
i think there's millions out there that would be going imo over a little negative feedback lols

I always leave positive if there is an issue with the item that the seller sorts, but a lot of people will consider any issue as a reason to leave neg..

you should leave a comment on his NEG like "I gave full refund on for this item" you are not going to loose any prospective buyers if you comment the NEG correctly..

Infact I would consider a good comment to NEG as almost a double positive.. if I know the seller gave a refund on a dammaged item or shipped a replacment within a few days thats good not bad....

anoying? Possibly, will it effect your ebay sales? No (assuming you dont comment something like buyer was an ass I want to kill them)

I had a neutral once.

Sold an unlocked iPhone, the buyer wanted me to ship to France.. I declined stating clearly that it already mentioned that in the listing, anyway we agree to send it to an address in the UK so he can collect it from there. Item arrived next day and I didn't hear from him for weeks.

I emailed him asking if he could leave feedback and he said "no, it's not unlocked".. Turns out he'd only restored the phone in iTunes and disabled the lock. Now, this was when an unlock took about 20 minutes, none of this 1-click nonsense.

Out of kindness I wrote him a simple walkthrough of how to unlock it, and he had the cheek to leave a neutral. I was fuming. I should have said "hard luck", but there you go.

Tl;dr.. People are idiots.

hehe.... i remember seeing a neutral feedback a few days ago on a seller, so i clicked it to read comment an i was actually astonished, he'd left neutral but only read good things in the comment, infact if i'd have read the comment first i'd of thought the sun shone out of the sellers ass..... i was quite taken back by the difference between the comment and him leaving a neutral.. i was expecting a neutral comment at first.

Basically I sold a phone a while ago which got damaged in the post even though I did pack it up well. The guy took a picture and sent it to me so I accepted. I gave him a full refund

Did you confirm it was the exact phone you sent and he's not done switch i.e. the IMEI numbers the same ?

This is bad, if you send anywhere other than the address on PayPal you are liable to be scammed, if they claim they never received it or a chargeback occurs.

Welcome to ebay. It's going down the pan. There is less and less used stuff on there compared to a few years ago. I'm not surprised with how sellers get treated.

I sold an iPhone on ebay once, the idiot that bought it emailed me claiming it didnt work, isent back an email asking what specifically was wrong with it. He replied "It turns on but all it shows is an picture of a cable, the phone does not work i want a refund."

Explaining to him in great detail over several emails, that all he needed to do was download itunes and plug the phone into his computer to activate it, he replies with "Ive opened a paypal dispute with you, you sold me a dodgy phone and are trying to lie your way out of it, i want a full refund."

Left me a negative for that too the thick ****
