*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Just a quick note, this morning I woke up at 7am and looked at my phone which was under my pillow, all hot and bothered....yes it was on the Oxygen logo bootlooping.....obviously something had startled its little socks and this does appear to be an AOSP Gingerbread issue at present as other ROMs have the issue as well - Seems to be a random issue too, not a common thing though.

I rebooted it by pulling the battery only to be greeted by a clock reading 00:00! The clock appeared to have reset itself.

Can anyone recommend any good kernels to try? Currently on the leedroid kernels, but I've found that when my phone is charging and being used at the same time by anything demanding the phone gets really quite warm and eventually crashes to a reboot.

Doesn't tend to do it on battery though.

Anybody know the default download location and how to access it ?
I downloaded a PDF file yesterday and just wondering where it is.

I spent the whole weekend learning how to S-off my phone and install another boot table..
My goodness its confusing.

With all the hustle and bustle I forgot to back my apps up and lost them all :(

Ive had this 2/3times. twice when using maps in a hot car and once when playing angry birds for 4 hours in a very warm room.

What nonsense its done several updates without issue and then wipes the messages and fails on this one. I shouldnt have to plug it into my pc and backup everything when its OTA update should I. Upon further reading its a common problem with this update. But dont let me stop your silly analogies

You don't need to plug it in to your PC to backup your SMS's. One dodgy update that wiped your txt's and you want to get rid of the phone, over reaction much.

Has this happen a few times myself, also had to reset by removing the battery but my clock didn't reset. Happened a couple of nights ago when it was just lying there charging.

yeah waiting for a txt on Saturday stood in a club wait for a txt as to where my mates were, looked at my phone and had the oxygen loop, was peeded off as had to battery pull then reboot before i could get the info i needed.

Edit: n/m

Actually.. One more thing. Is there a way to have the number of new SMS' showing on my Messaging shortcut, like in Android 2.1/2.2?

Running Oxygen RC7

Not sure if you can with the standard launcher, I went over to launcher pro again and the unread count shows fine on there.

Mine does this all the time when it's charging. I think it might be a temp issue to be honest.
If I do anything even remotely CPU intensive while the phone is charging it just bootloops after a few seconds. I have to leave it on standby. :(
Still not a dealbreaker for me though.

Mine did this too, was just on my bedside cabinet and noticed it when I woke up. No idea how long it had been on it for. I just did volume down, power button and trackpad at the same time.

Damn, had to send my desire in for repairs :(
It's been steadily getting worse in terms of rebooting and sometimes getting stuck on a bootloop (and getting quite hot), especially when plugged into the charger, regardless of Rom/Kernal being used.

This is even with the stock rom, HTC recovery and unrooted, as I reverted several days ago for testing.

Reading up on the issue, it seems the issue is getting noticed more and more, there's a 110-ish page thread on XDA about it, where the resolution is 99.9% mainboard replacement, but critically they haven't revised the design, so some people with the board replaced are getting the issue cropping up again after a short period :(

As this is now my third desire in 8 months (and Im on a 27 month contract, the first developed a screen fault, the second developed the rocker switch fault, and this one has developed the overheating fault) I was all but ready to swap over to another phone, and unfortunately whilst the sales assistant in CPW was about ready to swap me over to a Galaxy S or something else on an equivalent contract, his supervisor wouldn't let him yet.

If it fails again after coming back though, I think I'll be shifting phone to a SGS/NS/DHD. Much as I love the Desire, I'm a little suspicious on the number of issues I've had, given it lives in a protective pouch all day, as Im sure it's verging on failing SOGA now, and I dont want to get stuck later on in my contract with a duff phone, not given the premium on this one (it'd not be so bad if it was say a San Francisco)
