I don't understand why anyone fills up at the BP's in Devon.

been to visit the inlaws in leicester this weekend. BP there was charging 128.9p where the local tesco was charging 124.9

madness.

Oil companies pay ridiculous amounts of tax and are key in many peoples pensions.

Them making profit is a good thing

It is stupidly high at the moment and it's only going to go one way. I very very rarely go for 'drives just for the hell of it' anymore as its too expensive :(

For once rypt, seriously, just dont bother. Everyone is bored of seeing threads go south because you decide to have hugely strong opinions about things in reality you know precious little about and vastly oversimplify.

Evidently I know more about this than you, since it is pretty clear that all the needed services can be provided for much less tax.

Sod it, I'll bite.

Why yes of course all necessary services can be provided in a country with a population of SIXTY MILLION with less tax.
All the other European countries with fantastic public services (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium..) have very low tax rates. And equally large populations.

Oh, wait. What?
