Thought Celtic were excellent on Sunday. Down to 10 men and 2-1 behind on 40 minutes it looked all over.

getting lectures on fair play from celtic fans , haha , you guys just dont get irony, what next claiming neil lennon is well behaved and good looking ?

i dont understand, where has all of rangers money gone? did they spend too much earlier on in the decade on transfers? too high wages? poor signings? or buying high selling low?

your stadium holds what? 50,000 at how much for a seat? £40?? thats £2 million every home match or thereabouts. Then include sponsorship deals, shirt sales, advertising, food and drink sold at matches. Money from winning the league, european money, cup money, etc. ibrox must do hospitality stuff too? receptions? weddings? etc.

if you guys are struggling with cash, i wonder how hamilton, hibs, hearts and aberdeen feel.

i dont know all this, i dont follow scottish football at all, i just watch old firm matches and european matches.

if you asked me to name the starting eleven of either of the old firm, id get about 5/6 players max.

ok :) rangers and sir david murray , the situation is complicated, you got a degree in accountancy ?

"The poor us line isn`t really up for debate. It`s in black and white and in all the papers etc."

Make your mind up!

What i actually meant by that was that now we gain an extra £1m from the replay, the money from the one-off Uefa cup game isn`t that important and i would rather sacrafice this pub team competition for the league.

My mistake! I thought forster was sent off in the 38th minute and naismith in the 76th. Didn't realise they were sent off together!

And this rubbish about weir. Ok he's old, but he reads a game well and its not as though he doesn't have any help around him. At least he should have, in a 4-5-1! Oh and what are these shackles your talking about? You had a 10 man advantage for over half an hour, surely this was when the shackles should have been released!

Craigiebhoy, calm down son. Youre getting your knickers in a wee twist there. :D

I`m simply suggesting that Rangers had an extra man for 30 minutes, not 90. Lets put things in to perspective here. :)

The tripe that is being trotted out about how super ra hoopsh are a little un-founded in my opinion considering you only had 1 other good chance apart from the 2 goals in which Mcgregor pulled off a truly world class save. Rangers could and should have scored at least 2 more but sadly davis is so off form at the moment that it didn`t happen.

Youire convincing no one that your world beaters and the fact you couldn`t beat a 10 man Rangers team playing so chronically bad with a 40 year old Dad's Army cast member says it all really.

I look forward to the restraints and shackles coming off the entire club in terms of finances and natural order is resumed. ;)

If you can`t beat us when we are literally on our knees, what chances have you got when we sort outselves out?

It`s a lot more complicated than that mate.

Basically for the last 10 years our wage bill has increased to the point where the banks have said enough is enough.

When you think about the money we spent on players like Hendry (£4m), Kanchelskis (4.5m) Flo (12m) etc it really isn`t that hard to understand where it began going wrong. We were trying to compete with EPL wages on SPL income.

David Murray was coping til the economic downturn meant his metal business were struggling badly. As far back as 2004.

Where he was able to throw a bone at Rangers to help out, he found he was unable (or unwilling) to do so.

I`m sure a buy out would have happened sooner had this HMRC case not been hanging over us. Any perspective buyer is naturally and understandably concerned about any tax bills landing on the doorstep from a previous era.

At the other side of the city, dermott Desmond seems free from any financial restraints and is more than capable of bank rolling and fulling backing his managers.

It has taken a long time in realising how much damage was being caused but i`m confident we`ll get through it (eventually) and hopefully find ourselves in a position to properly compete for the title and in the CL group stages.

What about when you got walloped in January? Just a bad day at the orifice no doubt.

If Walter can't beat Celtic when they're managed by a rank novice and assembled at a fraction of the cost of the Rangers squad, what hope does he have of shuffling off into the sunset with any silverware?

Seriously? Are you not aware of the vast differences between the two businessmen's positions within their respective clubs?

I would argue that in his prime, Mike Tyson would have struggled against anyone with one arm tied behind his back.

I think that's a fair assessment of Rangers' financial situation, but Dermot Desmond does not bankroll Celtic. Celtic operate within their own means. Celtic generate more money than Rangers (excluding what happens CL-wise each season). David Murray sold off a lot of revenue steams and as a result Rangers' turnover is significantly lower than Celtic's. Celtic also make more money from other markets which Rangers are not involved in. CL money is a game-changer in respect of turnover though. Rangers' CL campaign in the last 2 seasons has been a great help to the club financially.

I think Rangers' debt is a bit of a mystery. The club is inextricably linked with MIH and the finances are all pretty muddied. If you look at what is in the public domain - Rangers with a debt of £25m shouldn't have them in the position they currently are. £25m is easily sustainable for a club the size of Rangers. There must be more to it than that. Is other Rangers' debt hidden in MIH?

Like you say, once Rangers are freed of their current financial shackles then it will be a lot better for the club. Currently though the club are suffering from the unsustainable spending which brought them success in the past.
