It is a recent card, it came this morning. Do these newer cards clock as well as the older cards with a lower stock voltage? I can hit 890-900Mhz on my other cards.

Nvidia had to individually set voltage for each chip for the earlier stuff depending on how leaky it was during factory testing.

They appear to have stabilised that issue which probably means that they can just set them all the same now power consumption is not a problem. These new lot appears to use a good 30-60watt less than the early examples.

That makes sense. I thought that the high stock voltage might of been a sign that the gpu wasnt as good a grade. I also didint know about the reduced wattage.

This card is stable at 850mhz but anything over and it fails. :( Temps are in the high 70's with the fan speed at 100%. It might be the caps on air that are causing it to fail?
 
I got one of the Asus ones, so presumably from the same batch as everyone else, but my stock is 1025mV.

Will only do 825MHz on that, though, before I get occasional driver crashes, so I'm at 1050mV for a stable 840MHz clock.

To get 850Mhz I have always needed 1063mV.

Is the 1025mv picked up by Afterburner straight away?

I am wondering if these current Asus cards are as good at clocking as the first batch of 480's? If they arent then there is no reason for me to keep it. :(

Yeah, was picked up as soon as I fired the PC up after installing. MSI Afterburner build 2.0.0, 260.99 drivers if that's of any interest?

Not really pushed mine yet. As I'm only on 1680x1050 and with a Q6600 I was only aiming for somewhere in the vicinity of 850MHz as I don't think I'd stretch the card clocked any higher than that on my current hardware.

I did try 860MHz at 1063mV, but saw a driver crash on first loop of Heaven, so I know that's not stable. Seems like there's a lot of room if I wanted to push up to 1100mV, though.

Mine is a recent card and is at 1038MHz...


Also, i got myself a HDMI to mini HDMI cable but when i connect it to my monitor nothing happens but when i connect it to my TV it works, any idea why?
 
1100Mv is what I need for 875-900Mhz. If I could hit 890Mhz with the card it would be a keeper. I am just wondering if the caps on air are causing it to fail as the gpu temp is ok.

Have you tried the new Afterburner 2.1.0 Beta 7, you might find that is different. I would find it handy if you could have a look.

That version sets mine at 1063mv, but my GPU only takes 1010mv according to GPU-z

Thats interesting. I get this:

1063 = VDDC - 1.045
1013 = VDDC - 1.002


Just noticed the fan speed at idle (44%) is allot louder than all the other 480s I have owned and used. The other cards aren't audible at this fan speed but this one is. The fan speed is 2286rpm, on my other cards they were around 1700rmp. :(

If I get time this weekend, I might install the new version. However, I don't really want it if it's going to increase my default voltage unnecessarily...

There've been a few reports on this thread of people getting different fan rpms at the same percentage of fan load. Mine is 2040rpm at 44%. This is too loud really for idle as I can definitely still hear it over my case fans. Currently running 35% fan and 1500rpm for idle. I don't think anyone had any idea why the same card from the same brand were having such different speeds for their fans.

It doesn't, there appears to be a delta applied on the voltage somewhere.

1.012v on load and 0962 idle here. This is with latest after burner, my card also one of the 44%@2340 ish idle cards.

Just been looping heaven and fan increased to 51% :)
