Your dream holiday?

We went to Voyager Beach Resort, Mombasa for our honeymoon. Our plan was to book a 3 or 5 day safari once we arrived as we were told that was the cheapest way and gave most choice. Once there though we decided not to go on safari and just do local attractions instead. I think 3 days watching animals would have been a bit dull for us, even a few hours in their safari park was long enough for us. Highly recommend the hotel though, excellent in every way.

I always wanted to go to Australia but cooled on the idea in recent years. Think for me would be an epic trip throughout South America which coincides with Carnival.

The good ol' US of A is always a safe bet too - 52 states to choose from, each with its own charm (or lack thereof, we're looking at you, South Carolina!).

Wait, what? There are 50, you sillybilly.

Probably the maldives for me, one of those big huts on stilts in the sea. Mostly i like doing **** all on holiday, bar eating and drinking far too much.

Personally it'd be snowboarding if I could for the two weeks, maybe America or Canada. I'd have to investigate the options a bit further to determine exactly where but on first thoughts that's where I'd be looking.

My ultimate holiday would be fly out to Tokyo, stay there for a while. Fly onto Hawaii, do loads of watersports. Fly to California, rent a car and drive to New York. Train to Canada, see some nice scenery. Fly back to UK.

I've been to Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto) for two weeks already. Definitely want to go back.

Don't know what's wrong with Forest Park tbh.

Was my first choice but apparently I can't get all inclusive!

thanks mate will take a look when I can get to my computer. That sounds similar to my thoughts on the safari, I'd rather it be a one day excursion as something to do for the day. What was your reason for choosing voyager over the others?

We chose that hotel only because my parents had been the year before, It was reasonably cheap about £800 per person, not too far from airport about 45m drive. Excellent food, drinks and accommodation. A lot of hotels that we went to on our way to and from the airport picking up other Thomas Cook holiday makers seemed to be quite far from any beach and closer to Mombasa itself.

Also we thought it a bit risky but when my parents visited the year before the hotel manager said, instead of going through a tour operator. Get in touch with the hotel direct and they will give you your room and fully inclusive band for half the price. So for the £800 we paid I think about £550 was for the flight then £250 for 14 nights all inclusive band and room. Might not be something you would want to try though. We were in a lucky position that my parents had been, they knew it was next door to an HSBC bank so they opened an account for us and put a load of money in should we have had any problems but it went very well indeed, no problems at all and the hotel gets the cash rather than it going through lots of channels so they liked us :)

Do Austrlia for a couple of weeks

Normally from England its a 24 hour flight which puts most off, but from Thailand .. much more like it at about 8 hours (exlcuding time sat around during transfers) its much easier.

What a waste... There really aren't 6 weeks worth of islands worth seeing in Thailand. You'd be so much better off splitting your holiday and doing 3 weeks somewhere else. Perhaps moving accross to Vietnam, or something along those lines.

We did plan on going to Vietnam at the same time, I just meant starting in Thailand, see their islands and carry on travelling around SE Asia. Not looked into the logistics but after getting my gf to watch the Top gear Vietnam special she wants to go

Better still do a week Island hopping and 5 weeks in Aus, far better.

I'd love to goto Japan myself, Tokyo for some of first week then travel around for the rest of your holiday.

Could do something similar in New Zealand. :)

Why do people keep suggesting stuff like this, it's as if they've not bothered to consider what he says in his OP. He's got 2 weeks - New Zealand is 30 hours away and hugely spread out, there is no way you can do justice to it with a 2 week holiday, you'd spend 20-30% of that time travelling or recovering from travelling :(

If it was that easy to do it in 2 weeks a lot more of us would do it :(
