Possible Test Drive Unlimited 2 information!

I have to say that I'm not really getting along very well with this game any more, I've gotten over the initial cool factor of having two big islands to drive around and I can't say I'm impressed with what is left. Maybe when they sort out the multiplayer it will be a better game but currently I have no motivation whatsoever to play it, and I feel like it was £40 truly wasted, there are so many things that I think are wrong with this game:
  • The physics are poor, and inconsistent, yes it's an arcade game but the cars don't handle like cars in most cases and are wildly inconsistent.

  • The sound is among the poorest I've ever encountered on the current generation consoles. The engine noises aren't great, a lot of cars just sound like lawnmowers and the spoken lines sound like they are being overdriven, the two radio stations are dire and that is coming from somebody that has broad tastes, the adverts are also a terrible attempt at humour. :p

  • While I can appreciate there has to be sacrifices in the graphical department due to the scale of the play area they are absolutely shocking in places, the pop in on the reflections on the car bonnets is quite bad, the trees are badly modeled, they look a bit better in Hawaii but Ibiza is pretty shocking, especially for a game that's been in development for quite a long time.

  • The online in still pretty shagged which is pretty terrible for a 2011 release. What were they doing after they got all the data from the BETA testing? Nothing by the seems of it.

  • There's a few other little things which annoy me, you can't sell cars which I find absolutely retarded, the "prize" cars are just the same cars that you have probably used to win the event anyway, just with a horrific colour scheme, there's about 4 different lines before the start of the race, seriously, if you're going to tell me that the Wilder brothers are arguing with Stuart you can at least make it affect what happens in the game when as far as I can tell most races have people finishing in the same order over and over. Also the default control settings are nothing short of shocking, you can't even put full lock on the Mustang because it will just spin out uncontrollably. It gets better when you unlock higher powered 4WD cars like the Audi's but then it goes back to being absolutely crap again when you get the Aerial Atom or the Ferrari's etc...

That's all I can think of that annoys me right now, I'm not saying the game is one of the worst I've ever played or anything, maybe I need to play it more or maybe there is something I am missing that makes this game great, but so far I'm really not feeling it. I've got just over $1,000,000 in the bank, a handful of houses and cars and I've just done a few of the licenses on Hawaii and thus far the game has just felt like a grind fest, I'm not finding the fun in anything.

I agree with most of what's said there ^^ but I guess I'm playing more as an open-world exploration type affair rather than a driving game. I daresay I'll finish the Ibiza cup and maybe do the A5 licence championships on Hawaii. But then I'll go back to trying to take the Hawaii photos and then I reckon I'll be bored. Especially as I should have enough money to buy an A1 car and as you can drive it straightaway there's no real incentive to continue.

I'm surprised you agree because from what I've read you seem to be really enjoying driving around Ibiza. :)

For me though I don't see it as that much fun. The other day I actually thought maybe I am missing out not doing any exploring, so I flew to Hawaii, bought a car that I'd always wanted with the money I won from the Ibiza cup, and then drove from the airport to my house in the bottom right of the map, I think it was about an 80 mile drive. It was one of the most boring things in a driving game I've ever done, okay, my car only did 155MPH tops so maybe that was part of it but Hawaii just seemed absolutely barren, like there was nobody else around except me, I think when the online is up that will change, but the computer cars in the game are nothing more than an inconvenience, the only time I pay attention to them is at junctions as they aren't the cleverest bunch and have a tendancy to pull out when there isn't enough time, cue me driving into them and ruining my shiny car.

LOL, why? The points you made were about physics, sound, pop-in, which I agree with. It's not the driving I'm fussed with, it's the exploration and wonderment of exploring the islands. Some of the scenery is beautiful and it's just driving round the next bend to see what spectacular sight is next. I like to travel but I doubt I'd afford to get to Hawaii anytime soon so this game will have to do. :p

In an ideal world, Grand Theft Auto V should just borrow these maps and set the game/story on Hawaii and make proper use of the world. The online portion is just total rubbish at the moment.

Grand Theft Auto Hawaii:eek: I'm sold, where do I pre-order?:D Now, that would be amazing!

The Million Dollar cup races you have to do in a certain order. The last race is a race around the island and it can be up to an hour long although I managed to do it in 45 minutes.

Yeah, I got one of those. I love messing around with the roof!

Thanks will get the correct car tonight :)

I sold mine to get an enzo. Will be sold tonight. As the roof is so much fun. Stupid that you can do it at like 200mph though rofl

I hate how random things are in this game.

E.g

The traffic appearing on the brow of a hill just as I'm about to go over it.
The disappearing vehicles that the AI cars crash into, to then disappear and they carry on.
Last night I was 10 seconds ahead of someone, I braked for a tight 90 degree bend, and they were two seconds behind! I WAS RAGING!

Good man, lol. I just wouldn't have the will power to go through it again (the game sadly is not that enjoyable).

That is unbelievable the backup went as well.

Indeed. It really isn't good enough to waste another 59 hours playing with the chance of corruption again. I really wanted to love this game after putting well over 100 hours into the first and absolutely loving it but now I am left with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Such a shame.

Agreed, the first one was brilliant! You could forgive the handling because everything else worked so well, but this, this falls very short in a lot of areas.

Can you exit out of events and save the progress in those events?

I was doing the Ibiza cup and didn't have time to go round the whole island as it was 11:30, but I could onyl see a give up option, with no option to save progress and return at a later date.

I really don't know what level I am now. When I press start it says level 37, however when I level up it's always 4 levels in front of what the start menu shows me.

You can exit the Cup/championship will save the current wins I believe but it wont was save if you exit half way through a cup tour
