I just bought a new Mobo last night and going to be buying a SSD Next week.

I would like at least 120GB. Which one would you recommend?

I have this board: Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)

Thanks

I would go for the Crucial C300 to take advantage of the SATA 6 Gbps ports on your board. What's your budget by the way? This one would be ideal although may be too expensive perhaps.

Have been looking at this HDD.

Was abit over budget but would like to get the 6GB/s so might have to go over budget.

I ordered the C300.

I was just wondering, Which port should i plug it in when it arrives. My mobo has some Marvel ports but not sure what they are. Should a SSD go in there?

ive heard that the sata 2 ports 0 and 1 arnt effected .. try to plug it into a sata 3 ports.. they should be the grey ones on your mobo.. marvell are the dark blue ones

Don't use the marvel 6Gbps sata ports as there much slower then the intel 6 Gbps ports ;)

My intel 6 Gbps ports on my asrock board are white.......
The ones on your asus motherboard maybe a different colour to mine..

Check you Motherboard manual to see which ports are which. You want to check which ports on your board provide the SATA 6Gb/s speed and use them. If you you have Intel ones then stick with them. Then keep your DVD Burner and normal HDD (if your going to be using one) on the other controller (different coloured ports).

I have two sets, The marvel are 6gb/s aswell.

Ill stick them in the normal ports.

Thanks for the advice!

Well don't panic if you only have a Marvel controller. A SSD running on SATA III is very fast so even if you don't get the full 6Gb/s speed you are still going to be running faster than SATA II. You can always stick a SATA III PCIe card in later on such as the HighPoint Rocket but im sure you won't need to.
