Death robot can kill at 2 miles.

When I start seeing these things roll out. I'll be amazed. In fact, I think i'll design one, that works and not just in films.

Also trident is the missile not the warhead. (and it;s the same one America uses too)

Because the news don't always give the correct facts or much of them, I highly doubt it has it's own capability to friend/foe identify, let alone shoot by itself. Unless it's wartime or strictly enforced that life fire automated weapons will show no mercy in "x area"

Just like UAVs, manned hardware or ground forces, you generally need clearance to shoot unless certain parameters are met, like being shot at yourself.

I can't see it ever shooting a civilian, these will no doubt be manned 24/7 or at least to the capacity that if it detects anything, someone, somewhere will be notified and ready to issue the right commands.

As for not being able to shoot downwards, I imagine if you tried to get close enough you wouldn't be given the chance to try! :P

that's my point, he said he expected them on our borders, so British beaches.

I said we'd either have to garrison troops all along the place to guard the things, because you couldn't just open fire on someone trying to nick one, you'd have to get there quickly (before they had it off) to stop/arrest them.

I doubt for some reason the British army will have shoot to kill orders on the beaches of Britain :p



It's only really useful for bases/vehicles to keep soldiers less exposed or on something like the Korean dmz.
 
Wow a gun, welcome to 1500. When we have trident missiles that can destroy entire cities on the other side of the globe, and artillery that can blow up ships many kilometres away it's hardly revolutionary.

I can foresee a day when we have these on our borders protecting us.

being able to nuke a city isn't all that useful in most places though.

especially when you're not the nuclear power in the conflict.
