Death robot can kill at 2 miles.

When I start seeing these things roll out. I'll be amazed. In fact, I think i'll design one, that works and not just in films.

all nuclear missiles are limited to 8 war heads by treaty. (although i think this has been reduced to just 4 now)

Also 8 is more than enough to wipe out most places, heck 1 warhead and is dozens of times more powerful than Hiroshima remember though each submarine carries 16 missiles. (128 warheads total but they don't operate at full capacity as some missiles only have 1 warhead others more for flexibility)

Also trident is the missile not the warhead. (and it;s the same one America uses too)

the yanks play defcon in real time ;) NORAD lol.

you still need to guard and arm bases though, or do you expect them to build and set up a new airport or port every week?

You protect bases by taking the area surrounding it, etc etc.

You dont know what you are talking about tefal.

The Maginot line proved itself to be effective, it forced the Germans to attack else where. If the Maginot line had been built right to the sea as was intended, the German war in the west may have been a failure. The western war was a failure of the west to adopt to mechanized warfare.

The Maginot line was not effective at all, are you completely insane?

How will they know the difference between thieves and hill walkers?

Also they can't shoot straight down so just have to kill anyone who gets in a certain range?

Not to mention you may have trouble in the next election after your automated turrets mow down a bunch of civilians.

Because the news don't always give the correct facts or much of them, I highly doubt it has it's own capability to friend/foe identify, let alone shoot by itself. Unless it's wartime or strictly enforced that life fire automated weapons will show no mercy in "x area"

Just like UAVs, manned hardware or ground forces, you generally need clearance to shoot unless certain parameters are met, like being shot at yourself.

I can't see it ever shooting a civilian, these will no doubt be manned 24/7 or at least to the capacity that if it detects anything, someone, somewhere will be notified and ready to issue the right commands.

As for not being able to shoot downwards, I imagine if you tried to get close enough you wouldn't be given the chance to try! :P

that's my point, he said he expected them on our borders, so British beaches.

I said we'd either have to garrison troops all along the place to guard the things, because you couldn't just open fire on someone trying to nick one, you'd have to get there quickly (before they had it off) to stop/arrest them.

I doubt for some reason the British army will have shoot to kill orders on the beaches of Britain :p

It's only really useful for bases/vehicles to keep soldiers less exposed or on something like the Korean dmz.

Wow a gun, welcome to 1500. When we have trident missiles that can destroy entire cities on the other side of the globe, and artillery that can blow up ships many kilometres away it's hardly revolutionary.

I can foresee a day when we have these on our borders protecting us.

From what, immigrants? Because they aren't much use against battleships and bombers.

being able to nuke a city isn't all that useful in most places though.

especially when you're not the nuclear power in the conflict.
