Portal 2 PS3 steam info

Nice idea to unlock the PC version on the PS3, but I expect I'll still just pre-order it on Steam when it's up.

I'll doubt I'll ever play the PS3 version and I expect it'll cost more than the PC version at release.

sold.. i'll grab the PS3 version and link my steam account and have the game on two systems... Nice one valve...

What a great way to butter up PS3 owners after gabe said the PS3 needs to go back to design..!! lol wouldn't it be great if valve now released HL3 (wishes) like this..??

Although how would that work with PC owners using KB & M, but then Half Life has been a single player game.. Maybe Team Fortress..?? lol

I suppose the key thing here is that if you have to have a PS3 Steam account, then the PS3 game will be tied to that account and unable to be sold.

How are they going to do it though? Is every Blu-ray Disc going to have a unique serial number encoded on to it?

They're not allowed to do that with a console game though are they? Unplayable until you've activated it on the Internet?

I imagine it will have a key/serial, but as a means to unlock the PC version when you link your acc, otherwise people could just lend their copy out and anybody would be able to get the PC version for free.

I very much doubt you would need to activate the PS3 version before being able to play it.

That's what I was thinking - free PC version for first time buyers, not for people who buy it used. But mame had the idea of the PS3 game being linked to your Steam account and unable to sell on.

Just found out that Portal 2 will work with Move now :) Pretty sure they HAVE to change the colour on the ball to orange and blue when using the portal gun.

lol really? Yes they have to change the ball colour that would be awesome.. When did they say Move support? So, PS3, cloud saving, copy of the game on PC and move controls? Valve have just won lol

edit -
Valve’s Chet Faliszek explains the love:

We made a mistake back then and gave the Orange Box console versions to an external team. They did a good job, but didn’t quite achieve the same quality level that we have at Valve. Now everything happens in-house, we created a special console department just for that.

So the move to the PlayStation 3 comes late – we’re sorry for that. As a small compensation we have PS3-exclusive cloud saving, a free code for PC and complete PlayStation Move support.

Look at it as a compensation for Left 4 Dead.

That's sold it to me now - move support and a copy to play on the PC. Valve's change of heart on the PS3 really is quite something given that Gabe declared the system a complete disaster not long after launch.

Why did they? Seems a bit stupid and arrogant? Cant see how that partnership isnt a good thing...

ps3ud0

That'll be because of GFWL and Steam over on the PC. MS and Valve don't really get along bless em... MS wants everyone to use GFWL, whilst nearly all the PC community wants Steamworks... Erm maybe.. More to it then this I'd guess..!!

Funny thing is, Steam sell games that are GFWL enabled, and you can still have the Steam overlay - comical really.. But I'm just guessing on this. Sony said yeah - bring Steam over to the PS3, cloud support - sure..!! We'll even look into cloud support for PSN etc etc etc...

Again, who knows lol just that is pretty much a no brainer if you've got a PC and a PS3 - get the PS3 version of portal and link PS3 steam to your PC steam account and download Portal for your PC.. Sorted..

No, it's more to do with Xbox Live having strict guidelines on what is allowed. e.g. Microsoft have limits on how big patch updates can be and they have to go through Microsoft certification. Steam would be able to bypass both of those. It would also be able to push free DLC which Microsoft doesn't like. It wants to charge for DLC.

Yeah forgot about the overly strict guidelines Microsoft have for xbox live.

Although, I'm fairly sure everyone would be happy if GFWL just curled up and died.. Erm, I'll get me coat..!!
