I don't bother with EXT any more, it just makes the most sense - Have 107MB free atm with 77 odd apps installed. It also makes upgrading SD cards a less of a hassle although this won't be an issue when I upgrade handsets to a 16GB/32GB phone and then my WinAMP sync will be laughing :D

I tried to flash the cm7 hboot before at work but couldnt get it to work, i tried it directly from the sd card with the img file after renaming it and it also failed :(

What are you using to flash it?

I tried android sdk and the fastboot flash command, cant remember the error as that was at work pc and i dont have it setup on my pc at home which im just about to format......

I also read you could just pop the image file on the root of the sd and start hboot and it would install from there but it failed there too....

So how are you doing it? Format SD card (where?), insert into phone and boot?

I tried to install the rom from the SD card, but I had to create a partition (in recovery) because it kept coming up with a mount error

Hmmm? I don't understand what you're doing :p Just wipe the card clean, 0MB swap and EXT, all FAT32 then wipe everything and install CM7 fresh. CM7 has no Apps2EXT support out of the box IIRC so you need to install a script to enable that feature if you do choose to use an EXT partition.

Android A2SD doesn't use an EXT partition, it saved to /.Android_Secure on the SD.

I'm not using any ext partition :p

/retard moment.

What the deuce is S-OFF?

I've got a fully rooted phone and currently using ext partitions on my sd- card, is there really any saving using boot tables instead?

Is that on the standard firmware? I'm getting a Desire tomorrow and working out whether to root it or not, the ability to put apps on the SD card is pretty much all I want.

i have rooted, but the same rule applies most good apps let you move to SD.

if your just getting one tomorrow i would wait until u root, just get the hang of it and see if you like sense. its pretty good as far as overlay software goes.
