I'm trying to change my splash screen image using Android Flasher but i'm getting problems in windows (Win7 64bit)

I notice you need to have S-OFF whatever that means? i Rooted my phone following your guide Khaaan! but when i boot into recovery mode the small amount of text at the top has s-on, does that mean i need to reroot?

You need to S-OFF :D

It's really easy.

Just follow the top section of http://alpharev.nl/ to S-OFF and then you can flash your splash.

You don't have to flash the HBOOT patches at the bottom.

What?

That page is impossible to understand, lol

Do i just need to burn the iso to a cd and boot from that and then is there steps to follow?

I've only just looking into rooting and flashing all this talk of HBOOT etc is confusing, lol

Boot with the cd (burn the iso first :p) and then when prompted connect the phone to the PC, the ISO will do the rest.

It will be S-OFF after that!
 
Just flashed CM7 RC1. Working great so far, no issues. Decided to flash the CM7 Hboot too and try without Apps2SD+ for the first time since when I first got my G1! It seemed ok, got 80 odd apps installed with over 100MB free still. I'll probably stick with that now.
 
Its been a while since I transferred something to my phone, but I just transferred a 185mb file and it was transferring at about 900KB/s.

That seems REALLY slow to me.

I'm using the Oxygen rom RC7

OK, somethings not right, i cant get the Android Flasher to work in windows. I just get an error and windows telling me that the program has stopped running?

I now have S-OFF because the splash screen has changed to the http://alpharev.nl/ one.

Any ideas? I have noted that the directory /data/local doesnt exist does that mean anything?

I've never got Android Flasher to work. Just use fastboot from command prompt.
 
Anyone got an easy to follow guide to rooting? Found one on Modaco but its from 14th June 2010, is this still the one to use?

Whats a good rom to put on? This is for my brothers phone.
