something i hadnt thought about before: the rail system is useless to newcomers - they dont have minecarts.

how do we address that ?


could we work on a dispensing system for carts?
one were users have to return the cart after use?
I have one that works and can be modified to use redstone to start the cart
since cart maina works in this way

Ah just seen FT's response that's cool so we will have auto farms and minecarts as needed :D

So we going to go for a reset?
or still deciding on it. Since there seems to be many of us here now the sooner we decided the sooner we can build the spawn and get the
mini town started :D
 
The new version of minecart mania allows for spawning of minecarts as needed.

ok, thats good. we need to do something about the stray carts on the lines as well. we should make use of the chest system to auto-collect a cart at the end of a line, and maybe also that MCMania command that removes stray carts if it isnt still bugged.
 
It'll be pretty big and will be expanded as needed. The idea is just to stop things like Tefal's "expedition" :p

A few people have mentioned Tefal's expedition as a problem, the simple fact is it does not cause server issues as only active regions are loaded. Map size would be the only thing to increase and as stated this isn't a server load/performance issue due to the above. Cartographs can also be rendered covering only the parts of interest/limited size so it there is a long offshoot it is easily ignored.

1 = Bank (could have this a bit underground ish or just expand in to 4 depending on the amount of chests needed.

2 = nothing

3 = Town hall / place to keep the rules

4 = expanded bank / nothing

5 = park where people spawn

6 = portal entrance to subway

7 = market

8 = nothing

9 = Inn

Surrounded by a small wall with the 4 exits and each square divided by two gravel with a sand either side for a path :)

1/4 and 7 could all be a big bank as well :) if you didn't feel the need for a market.

I would say station with enough area to add new lines, the actual spawn where city hall is and then maybe an area for farms behind, it does not need houses, or business buildings contaning nothing.

I dont think that shops are necessary, there isnt even a trade system, so whats the point?

When I arrived I wasnt greeted by lots of people offering diamonds in exchange for 30 gold like legend of zelda or pokemon, it was deserted because the people who own the shops have better things to do than wait for someone to trade and even when they do want a trade it can be done anywhere.

It is a nice idea, but if you build an astetic town centre it is going to leave it deserted where as if you centre is where all the community builds happen then it is going to have people and create a communal area.
Personal ideas should be built far away from the town centre, but linked to by roads on top and the cart system underneath.

Minecraft is purely about exploring the caverns, building structures and battling monsters at present. It seems a waste to build anything else in a community area.
 
Some builds can get large and that is why they are outside the main town.

I also believe we did try putting the economy plug-in on but that was confusing
hmm might look at it though and see how it works would be cool to have trading system in play if it is automated that is.
