****Official Fallout New Vegas Thread****

I had three rotating saves and made aseparate savegame each day I played.

But In 84 hours of playing I never had a corrupted savegame, I did have a lot of lockups though but a reload of the game allowed me to continue from the autosave.

I got

One for when I just got to the strip (about lvl 10)
One after doing all the quests that don't alter the main three paths, befriending the boomers, khans and so on
One for each of the three main paths

After I have finished the platinum at one point I'm just going to save the progress of the one where I am friends with everyone. Can't wait for that. I hate not being able to name saves because it looks so messy :/

Yeah I wish you could name your saves too, it looks very untidy with the default names! :(

The 200 save limit, is that 200 individual saves, so a list of 200 different ones or is that 200 saves carried across all of your files for example two actual files, but they have been overwritten 100 times each?

200 different I would think. Or else I would probably have hit that number some time ago.

One thing I just realise that I miss in NV is that there is a lack of vaults. It would be cooler if the main character was from a vault so that everything around was new IMO. Also would be cool finding and opening vaults with people in that has never been opened before :p So you could do some quest to find things for them that they have never heard of and so on.

Hah! :D

I've heard so much criticism of this game but never have I heard lack of vaults as one of them. :p

"NEEDS MOAR VAULTS!" :D

I get what you mean though, in fact the whole of New Vegas just seems a bit "meh" to me. I really prefer the Fallout 3 wasteland it just had more character and more quirky places in my opinion. I'll always remember Paradise Falls, Little Lamplight, Underworld, Rivet City, Megaton, Tenpenny Tower etc but a lot of New Vegas just seems to be lacking something in comparison. Maybe it's because the game felt so familiar when it came out, I don't know, but it just isn't a patch on Fallout 3, for me.

Saying it's not a patch on Fallout 3 is a little unfair IMO. New Vegas surpasses F3 in a lot of ways, such as improved followers, more weapons, mod kits for those weapons, better crafting (ammo, health packs, poison etc), and so on. Where it falls down is that the Mojave Wasteland isn't as memorable as the Capital Wasteland, and the story isn't as gripping as in Fallout 3 either. New Vegas is still an incredible game for me, just not quite as good as Fallout 3, despite the improvements it makes.

Sorry if I didn't word it very well but I was trying to say that I much prefer the Capital Wasteland to the Mojave. New Vegas does make some good changes but I just don't enjoy the locations as much as I did in Fallout 3. It's not a bad game by any means, it's one of my favourites of all time, but just not as good as F3 imo, I did stress in my post that it was just my opinion and not based on whether New Vegas was technically better in some areas. :)

Oh, I agree, I much prefer the Capital Wasteland as well (though getting around DC through the metro tunnels was a pain in the ass), but the locale and the story are the thnigs that seperate the two games for me. Oh, and the DLC so far, Dead Money is really really poor compared to any of the Fallout 3 DLC, I really didn't like it very much.

God yeah, I forgot about the metro, that was one thing I wasn't so keen on, lost count on the amount of times that the quest marker is telling me to go somewhere and I'm following the compass completely confused, walking into what appears to be a dead end. :(

I haven't played Dead Money yet so I can't comment, but apart from Zeta I really enjoyed all of the Fallout 3 DLC. Point Lookout was probably my favourite, I'll never forget it and the atmosphere on the island was intense. :)

For me, New Vegas pees all over Fallout 3. However, as with all good RPGs, this is down to flavour and canon. I was very disappointed when Fallout 3 basically uprooted and went all 'East Coast', and disregarded the story hooks that had already been planted by FO1 & 2.

New Vegas is the game (canonically at least) that FO3 should have been. Sadly, Dead Money went and spoiled all that with a basically disjointed experience, completely seperated from the tone of the main game. I'm hoping for things to improve significantly with the upcoming DLCs, but I won't hold my breath. C'mon Obsidian, pull your thumb out!

New Vegas may be set on the West Coast like the previous two games, but it does away with two of the main factions from previous games and reduces them to bit parts - the Brotherhood and The Enclave. The Brotherhood especially are huge parts of the Fallout universe, and New Vegas barely even nods in their direction. That was hugely disappointing for me I have to say.

I found Fallout 3 a lot better than Vegas. Vegas is good but doesn't have me coming back for more like Fallout 3 does. I found the whole Vegas bit quite a letdown tbh..

Im getting the save game crash ALL the time and its doing my head in!!

The patches fix this but can anyone link, where I can DL these ? im struggling to locate them :(

Maybe it's because the main character has no proper home or background story. Walking around in the wasteland it was all new for a vault dweller when in NV its just another person.
