***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

I am really enjoying this :) Runs superbly on my system at 1920x1080 on max settings, although can slow down a little when things are getting busy during crash site games. Knock the settings down a notch and it’s flawless.

Very impressive game. Graphics are excellent, player movement is smooth and the suit adds a refreshing dimension to multiplayer. Nothing beats knocking someone over the edge with a well-timed slide while emptying your pistol into their buddy nearby! Also the mid air stomping (when it works) is a lot of fun and the weapons, sounds, music and interface feel polished.

This certainly doesn’t feel like a console port. There are plenty of good examples of BAD console ports out there. So what if it says “Press START to begin” – who cares?! A minor oversight on the developers part, big deal… they’ve no doubt got lots of other stuff to deal with before the final release.

Some people need to seriously chill out and remember that it’s a game! Just relax! Enjoy it! If you don’t like it, big deal, find something else to play.

OK, i'm starting to enjoy it. I've turned into that horrible bugger who lays in wait for people when they try and snipe from the boat :D

Only problem i'm having is the uniforms are very muted colours which makes people hard to see at times.

One thing I don't get, I can run it on "Hardcore" gfx setting at 1920x1080, looks superb and runs perfectly, yet crysis 1 on max settings doesn't run as well? Maybe its cause its demo and not truly hardcore.

That and it's a console port.

I'm really enjoying it, prefer Skyline to the Pier17 map I think. The shotgun is fantastic. :D

Really? I'm finding the shotgun to be utterly useless unless you are stood next to them, may as well take the shells out and throw them by hand!

Well Crysis 1 looks better, has more physics (breakable trees, buildings etc) and its a larger scale.

Crysis 1 is on my "to play" list, any major differences from the sequel with respect to the controls?

I typed in the details I usually use on games without making an account and it worked.

Must have made some god-forsaken Crysis or EA games account ages ago on their website :D

I imagine the physics you mention there will be in the SP. Pretty sure Crysis 1 MP had far more simple physics too.

Crysis 1 MP still had the same breakable trees from SP as well as the moving leaves when you shoot or walk threw them. Was just playing some MP there.

Oh fair enough. I'm sure they had cut something. Unless it was just in DX9 it was toned down maybe?
Either way I'd be really surprised to not see destructible stuff.

Ugh the demo runs so smoothly yet it lags perfectly. Which is bad.
Just like it did in Crysis Wars.
Now there is killcam it's even more evident.
I'm talking about the kind of lag you get at <40ping which makes it look like you got shot through that wall you just went behind 1.5seconds previously.

I see destructible stuff all the time... Unless it's just debris effects when you shoot stuff but I'm pretty sure I've seen physics at work, stuff flying around after a grenade goes off, tree branches snapping on Skyline etc...

Anyway, I’m so busy playing the game that I don’t really care if it’s been scaled down for multiplayer… if you’ve got time to sit back and admire the effects, someone is likely to have you in their sights ready for that headshot ;)

Good demo.. Shame, it's my 1st new game in my new rig and I have flashing water textures caused by sli setup ;-( .. Other than that it's great. Looking forward to the single player missionv- assuming nvidia fix the water problem by then!

OPM calls FPS "excellent" but with a "bungled" opening

OPM's main gripes are with the shooter's "bungled" opening section, and the mag says it takes maybe five hours of "persisting" through "a thorny, poorly signposted and indifferent shooter" until Crysis 2 really kicks off.

I'm sorry but how can a game get 9/10 when the first five hours are abit meh, that's a lot of hours!. Why are these games like DA2 getting such high scores when it clearly has flaws to rate it an 8 not a 9.

Lol, overwhelmingly popular. You mean all those dead servers because no one could log in?

Priceless.
