I'll put money on 580 sli being cheaper and faster than 590
If it is then the gtx590 is going to cost over £760 if you go on ocuk's prices.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, because of the fact that it's nVidia, I'm actually saying, it's pointless to spend twice the money for the same performance, just because you want to go nVidia. I'm not saying that you should only get an AMD card, and definitely not an nVidia card, I'm talking about price to performance. I'd be saying the same thing if it was the other way around, and that you shouldn't be spending 2x the money for the same performance just to ensure you get AMD, because for the most part, the brand you buy should be irrelevant if the performance and price is right. The brand of the graphics card is pretty much secondary, for the most part, you probably couldn't tell what brand graphics card a PC has.
that was the general idea, and to be honest i would be more inclined to have respect and take advice from someone who has no brand loyalty and has first hand experiance of owing cards from both camps than i would from some of the people on her who quite frankly come across as being blatent shillsdoes it matter if you do change from ati to nvidia over and over,
it happens only with gfx cards, and you get so much stick for doing it
enjoy the cards for what they are
and stop having a pop at raven
i think is what he is saying
well i'm skipping the next gen of cards with the smaller die to get an ivy bridge then i'l get the next gen of cards after that or the high end cards of that generation see what happens.

its cheap, cheaper than any dual gpu, its powerful, and wont be to far behind 590

tbh i've gone power mad trust me i totally agree but for some reason i really can't decide when it should be a no brainer. but my point above still stands. about the cooling and overclocking. in the end i'll guess only i know what is the right choice i've spent the last 48 hours back and forth tho between loads of combinations of cards.
You won't find anyone more neutral than me, I have had many Nvidia and ATI cards over the years and have good knowledge of the drivers and software if anyone ever needs some advice.

i know what you mean, i go from one to the other all the time, i went through 3 580s ( single not sli ) before i got what i have now
each to their own i say, at the end of the day, there only very expensive graphics cards
Ocuk had 3/4's of the uk's stock so they have loads to shift i would imagine. Gibbo said in another thread plenty of people were putting money down on them.
590 will be downclocked 580 cores, as said 700-730 core.

i am actually really surprised though by the amount of 6990s still in stock.. i would have never of guessed because the 5970 sold like hot cakes if i remember i was so proud of that card it was beautiful.
They are awful value, there's no reason why they're so expensive, it's ridiculous.
