GTX 590 anyone ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, because of the fact that it's nVidia, I'm actually saying, it's pointless to spend twice the money for the same performance, just because you want to go nVidia. I'm not saying that you should only get an AMD card, and definitely not an nVidia card, I'm talking about price to performance. I'd be saying the same thing if it was the other way around, and that you shouldn't be spending 2x the money for the same performance just to ensure you get AMD, because for the most part, the brand you buy should be irrelevant if the performance and price is right. The brand of the graphics card is pretty much secondary, for the most part, you probably couldn't tell what brand graphics card a PC has.

well i definatly see what your saying but not to start a war or anything but the twin frozers overclock really well which is what i'm looking for they stay cool the 580s beat the 6970s by about 10% from what i've seen but at higher resolutions the 6970s do take over the 580s

if the twin frozer versions where unlockable i'd be all over them but there not and i can't really see any other 6950 models that unlock that take my fancy i really despise amd's stock cooler.

does it matter if you do change from ati to nvidia over and over,
it happens only with gfx cards, and you get so much stick for doing it
enjoy the cards for what they are
and stop having a pop at raven
i think is what he is saying
that was the general idea, and to be honest i would be more inclined to have respect and take advice from someone who has no brand loyalty and has first hand experiance of owing cards from both camps than i would from some of the people on her who quite frankly come across as being blatent shills

well i'm skipping the next gen of cards with the smaller die to get an ivy bridge then i'l get the next gen of cards after that or the high end cards of that generation see what happens.

6950xfire all the way
its cheap, cheaper than any dual gpu, its powerful, and wont be to far behind 590

i know what you mean, i go from one to the other all the time, i went through 3 580s ( single not sli ) before i got what i have now
each to their own i say, at the end of the day, there only very expensive graphics cards

Even though his "opinion" is massively skewed based on what graphics card he has? He's been caught out for lies a number of times on these forums, and really isn't some one you should be looking to for impartial information without any hidden agenda. When he has an nVidia card, his opinions on nVidia are out of touch with reality, when he has an AMD card, his opinions on AMD are out of touch with reality.

tbh i've gone power mad trust me i totally agree but for some reason i really can't decide when it should be a no brainer. but my point above still stands. about the cooling and overclocking. in the end i'll guess only i know what is the right choice i've spent the last 48 hours back and forth tho between loads of combinations of cards.

You won't find anyone more neutral than me, I have had many Nvidia and ATI cards over the years and have good knowledge of the drivers and software if anyone ever needs some advice.

Getting new heatsinks for 6950s would be the most sensible decision in my opinion, while still maintaining the far better value for money.

agreed no point picking a side both the companies are very good nvidia tend to be abit more money grabbing of course but i just love the build up to card releases. its all becoming a tad bit too addictive. the thing that annoys me is when you watch a youtube video of a review of a card.. and people in the comments section are like TAKE THAT NVIDIA or ohh ati's in trouble now... it just does my nut in.

i am actually really surprised though by the amount of 6990s still in stock.. i would have never of guessed because the 5970 sold like hot cakes if i remember i was so proud of that card it was beautiful.

Ocuk had 3/4's of the uk's stock so they have loads to shift i would imagine. Gibbo said in another thread plenty of people were putting money down on them.

hmm until they saw reviews tom logans review really summed it up for me. impressive card none the less. what are the chances of the 590 actually being a full 580 in sli ? i don't reakon they will be but some people beg to differ.

Can't really be selling that good can they? I mean.. they've appeared in 'This Week Only' with some money knocked off :p

They are awful value, there's no reason why they're so expensive, it's ridiculous.
