Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

How indicitive is the demo of the actual game? I played for about 20 minutes last night and had to quit out of boredom. It just found in battles I just clicked and watched my rogue fighting like a robot stuck in a slash loops. And then occasionally use one of his skills.

But it just seemed a bit mindless and repetitive. Please tell me I'm wrong :-/

That's how it is in the actual game and how it was in DA:O.

EDIT: Those high res textures make a nice difference :)

Does anyone get low performance on very high?

I have maxed my settings at high with 60+ fps however when I turn it up to very high it plummets.

If you have a nvidia card then the latest beta drivers do not fix this only texture issues. We are waiting for either a patch or driver update, the drivers are due any day now though :D

If you have an ATI, i have no idea :(

I have a pretty decent PC and i'm pulling in around 25-35 fps with everything maxed, which is something i wasn't expecting.

Can anyone comment on the 'High Resolution Texture Pack'?

I'm wondering if it worth installing if my spec (in sig) may struggle with (very)high settings, let alone the HRTP.

I know someone with similar spec (same cpu and gpu) to you and they said it made a difference.

Nothing to lose for trying it.

I have the same GPU as you and only a core2 quad, running at 1680 x 1020 and it runs sweet with high res texture on. :D

So anyone enjoying the game....

Normal was challenging on Origins.

After a couple of hours' play: Not a patch on Origins.

The textures are horrendous in comparison, even with the hi-res pack applied. The darkspawn grunts like Hurlocks etc. look like a cartoon joke compared to the rockin' orc-esque creatures in the first. Combat isn't "too" bad, but it's far too flashy and there really is no need to have enemies exploding into chunks with every bloody death. It was just MUCH cooler in Origins when you just happened to finish off a random enemy with a nice beheading or run-through animation.

In terms of the story, it's "okay" so far, and I really don't mind the Mass Effect style conversation wheel. My only problem is that Hawke is such a friggin non-character that it's really a chore to try and side with him, or care in any way for what you're doing. The voice actor delivers almost every single line with the nonchalance of asking someone to pass the salt at the dinner table.

Meh.
