Don't know anything about the game but saw this on Kotaku today.

Dragon Age II Dev Rates His Own Game On Metacritic

Neil beat you by about 6 hours :p

I have been given them for free!

..... they must be roobish, right :P

In any case, i am looking forward to playing this game after i finish DA:O :)

When it comes to DLC Bioware just make it up as they go along.
Stone Prisoner, day one paid DLC was great (DA:O), the Wardens Keep thing, think this was paid but free with DDE/CE or something, good but little content. Return to Ostagar (DA:O) was the crappiest DLC i have ever seen. Then the Cerberus Network in ME2. Its supposed to be used to give smaller DLC content free of charge. Lair of the Shadow Broker, Kasumi and Overlord (ME2 - paid) were great. Firewalker (ME2 - 'free' with Cerberus Network) was the most tedious DLC i've ever played. Firepower Pack, Aegis Pack, etc, basically things that probably took someone who knew what he was doing not long (ME2 - paid) and of course the crowning glory, alternative outfits for three people only, mostly just recolouration of existing outfits, also paid DLC and not 'free'. Zaeed, the day one Cerberus Network DLC also free and actually good.

So just dl and install them over the top? being beta drivers will they cause issues with future driver updates?

Download Driver, Unpack driver
Download Modified inf and copy/overwrite previous inf
Run Setup and tick the clean install option

That's it, when new drivers come out just install as normal and the clean install option. Just tested BFBC2 and that works perfectly but i won't be able to try DA2 yet, others have and it works well

Just finished my first play through, took around 30 hours on hard difficulty for most of it, though I will admit I did knock it down to normal occasionally as some of the tougher fights were annoying and I just wanted to move on with the story really.

Anyway, enjoyed it a lot, some good characters (Varric, Isabela) some awful that I hardly used (Fenris) and some I did (Anders who needs to be killed tbh), party banter as you run around is pretty good. Combat is maybe faster, animations more exagerated than origins but I didn't feel it was 'dumbed down' to the extent people were moaning about before release and it certainly didn't effect my enjoyment of the game.

Armour and weapon designs are much more visually interesting than most of the rubbish ones from origins.

Reusing locations 2 or 3 times was a little annoying at times but not massively (for me anyway).

So... it doesn't have as much depth as origins in terms of the history of the world I feel and the number of choices open to you is less, but at the same time there are some tough ones that make you stop and think which is good, you get involved in the story.

It isn't origins 2, it has improvements over that game and some negative changes too, but I don't feel I've wasted my money. Wouldn't rate it as highly as origins but not drastically lower either.

This is basically the same as me.
The main plot at the end of the game turns into total arse, I can't believe that's how it finished, it looks as if everything you do during the game has no real impact on the ending at all, it seems like you get that ending regardless of what happens during the main story and any decisions you made don't mean a thing, very disappointed in that respect. Also the blatant cliff hanger at the end for the next dragon age game, it doesn't even finish the story off properly, just, urgh.

The best bits about this game are a couple of decent boss fights, the weird spindly spiderlike thing beginning with V that's terrorising the elves and the rock element spirit thing that has a big aoe blast in the Deep Roads. Good fights, although not good enough for me to remember their names ;)

Playing on Hard they actually make you think above the usual right click then faceroll skills tactic that almost every other fight requires.

Unfortunately after the relative highs of those 2 fights, other boss fights are just a lesson in stamina and tedium. The high dragon fight was so boring and even the final 'climatic' fight was just a dull kiting exercise. Most of the other big bosses could be kited with ease using warriors taunt or a rogue's throw the gauntlet skill.

Like others above have said the story is erratic and choppy. Some decent story lines but ultimately they have no real effect and any real choice you make seems pointless or you are not given any option to really change things to start with.

I never want to see Kirkwall or the wounded coast again so I don't hold out much hope for my enthusiasm levels for any DLC or mods that use those maps.

In summary, short inconsequential quests, some enjoyable but tactic light fighting, repetitive use of maps and dungeons, some moments of inexplicable plot twists from the devs. Not much hope for future DLC.

I don't really regret buying it but I wouldn't wholeheartedly recommend it to people I know who are rpg fans like myself.

Okay, playing as a mage, about 1/3rd through act 2 I'm encountering a weird bug - for some odd reason, at level 13 I received my second specialization point, followed by another one a level later.
That's not all though! I distributed my skill points played for a bit, and upon revisiting the skill tab I am finding myself with free additional points placed into the entropy tree o.O Anyone else encountered this skill cloning issue?

To the guy above me - about in-consequence of quests - your single playthrough is giving you a very limited scope of how your choices actually affect the game world. Having been gifted the official guide, and browsing through I see quests I won't be able to complete due to choices I've made in act one or in DA:O for that matter). Having said that, repeatedly visiting the same locations over and over (and over...ad nauseam) again is getting old, fast.

I've played through a good chunk of the game, the graphics and core gameplay are okay. Voiceovers were good, played as a slightly sarky wisecracking female.

I didn't like the fact that the game basically felt like a bunch of unrelated bite sized missions, and had no apparent central storyline / heroes journey or any real hook other than to bang through a few short dungeons and get some exp.

The inventory management mini game seemed unnecessary, with the need to spend 20 minutes every couple of hours selling useless crap that clogs your inventory.

Something I really disliked was the reuse of maps, with rooms and doors shown on the minimap but blocked ingame.

I'd give it a thoroughly average 5 out of 10. Easily the worst Bioware game i've played (having played everything since the first Baldurs Gate)

Thats my biggest issue with this game. Apart from the dumbed down... everything, for the console peasants, as usual.

Whats sad is that this game is still selling well and it dont deserve it. Luckily i didn't pay for it, but if cr*p like this still sells so well then theres no reason for the dev's and publisher to stop putting out turds like this.

Inconsequential in relation to your companions and how suddenly they do something inexplicable and completely unrelated to how you have treated them and helped them.

So choices I made during my play through have seemingly had no effect on the loyalty of certain companions and what they do and how they act.

This time I'm going to be a **** to everyone to see how that turns out.

Question to those of you that have the game :

Can you change the difficulty mid game like you can on DA:O ?

35 hours through and I'm just bored.
The main plot is ****.

I'm corious to know how long this game actually is if you didn't do all these crap side quests, that are all complete garbage minus one or two.

I still can't get over how much level maps/models are used. Sure it happens in every other game but that's just certain sections. The side quests wouldn't be so bad if it was new areas.
